Beautiful building Hosts very attentive Breakfast cooked on the outside BBQ by the chef was amazing
2 people staying in room and only 1 bottle of water supplied
Very poor
Worn furnishings, broken tiles in bathroom and black grout, cold - neither the central heating nor extra wall heater worked, uncomfortable bed
The location was close to where we wanted to be.
Booked an accessible room and couldn't get the wheelchair through the door,it was extremely tight and hadn't got a big enough turning circle to get the chair Into the room and the bed was in the way, as well as the door not opening fully because of the radiator. The floor was not flat due to the raised lip on the floor and the whole room was small. There was no toilet roll in the room and asked twice for some and waited 2 hours for it.The carpet was filthy and needed a good Hoover we found several nail clippings and the bathroom floor needed a good sweep. We were booked for 3 nights and only stayed 1 and will not be recommending to any of our disabled friends.
My room was very clean and comfortable. The food at dinner and lunch was excellent. The owner and all the staff were very friendly and extremely attentive, catering to all the needs of everyone in our party. We all had a fabulous time. I would certainly consider staying here again.
The hotel was a little tired in places but, speaking with the hotel owner he said that he is now concentrating on working hard to bring the hotel up to a much better standard and I believe that he will be true to his word.
No breakfast. Too expensive
Hotel was too cold. No heating on when hit there. Radiator in bedroom jot working was like a fridge. But a heater was supplied and rad fixed
Staff were very friendly, room was huge. Breakfast too was excellent with several options. Handy for east Midlands airport and Donington Park
Decor felt a little dated and tired. Though room was clean, bathroom had a few odd marks/stains here and there.
Near bus stop
Everything! . I’m not one to complain but this place was disgusting . We start with the lady on reception who was very nice and friendly . We arrived for our 2 pm check in to the place locked up , empty and in darkness . Impossible phone signal there so went to pub opposite and connected to WiFi . 3 pm got hold of someone who said she meet me at reception. We booked purposely here as it had room to accommodate 3 ppl . She said bar is closed , restaurant not open , in fact hotel shut so put you in 2 rooms in stable area . The room was damp and 2 electric fires at full pelt made it feel like a tropical rain forest . The windows did not open so went had to keep door open to try and vent the heat out , the kettle was on the window chill connected to an extension lead nailed to the bathroom wall ?? The socket on the other wall was stuck on with blue tack !! . The old bed was more like a hammock. The bathroom lights did not work. Only one low dim light so impossible to shave . Black damp on ceiling. The bathroom was something I’d expect in a squat and thought I’d be cleaner to me not have a shower . Then at 11 pm I awake to banging on my window so had to go out to see what’s happening and some guy can’t get his car out as barrier gone down and not been given a exit code !. I return back to the squat where the wind has got up and some stable door slamming all night . It is hands down the worse place I have ever stayed at .tried to contact hotel and nothing g back from them .
Friendly staff on check in and check out, the room was very spacious - more so than I imagined, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the wifi was easy to get on to and the TV and iron both worked! The hotel and room itself had great character.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like! At a push you could say that the bathroom was a little dated, but it all adds to the character!
Was so refreshing to be served promptly with no fuss, nothing was to much trouble
Room was great lovely hot bath
Great location - attending a gig in the Castle Inn
Tv is a little small and WiFi is intermittent
The location was ideal and the staff were very helpful, The courtyard outside the room was very attractive. The parking was very good.
On arrival we were told reception was part time and they were not cooking that evening, The grout in the shower was black in places and we wondered about its cleanliness. Complimentary tea and coffee were not replenished.
The location was great, within walking distance to the historic downtown. We didn’t have time for breakfast, but the owner made us tea and coffee. I would highly recommend that you stay here and support this. Local business.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
Staff were friendly.
The building and rooms are very run down and poorly maintained. It’s in desperate need of renovation. There’s no sound proofing in the rooms, so it’s very disturbing when other residents move around the hotel. There are definitely better hotels for the same room price. The WiFi was also unusable in most the hotel, and the speed was too slow to use where it did actually have signal. There’s also no phone network at all on the two phone networks my colleague and I were on, which meant it was impossible to contact our families.
Nice triple room. Bit chilly when we arrived but the little heater was very efficient and warmed it up in no time.
Some herbal tea would be a nice touch and I forgot about the random steps (I think our last visit was 18 years ago when we were all fitter!).
Big carpark, spacious room.
Rubbish shower, carpet was filthy, very tacky.
we went for our Anniversary as we got married there 10 yrs ago.
Room was for two yet setup for one person,. One water one towel, bathroom was dropping to bits. To be honest in the last ten yrs its gone down hill. Bar staff drafted in for a party with no experience although pleasant. Worst of all was asked to move the car at 11pm I mean the manager came to the pub we was in and Asked US TO MOVE THE CAR WHEN HE COULD CLEARLY SEE WE HAD BEEN DRINKING AND SAID ITSD ONLY IN THE CAR PARK. TO ACCOMODATE SOMEONE ELSE. SHOCKING.
Comfy clean bed and warm room. Overall the room was fairly clean in most parts.
Needs refurbishment along corridors and stairs Needs a permanent receptionist no one there to check in had to wait 20 minutes for someone to come and to check out had to fetch a member of staff from the kitchen to check out. Cobwebs around bedroom lights and ceiling and needs repainting around window frames, shutters dirty or black mould along the bottom edges.
Great location for where we were meeting up. Friendly staff and large room.
Things looked a little tired in places
