Cons -
- I accidentally booked twice and despite spending over £200 on food and drink during my stay the accomodation would not refund my double booking so for 6 people we had 6 rooms booked..the lack of consideration put me off wanting to go again. There was also a wedding in the hotel and hair and beauty started outside our room at 6.50am!!!!
- Post wedding noise
- Not a criticism but the shower in room 4 very weak/slow

Food - Dinner and breakfast was excellent quality, staff super helpful.Lovely decor.
Not a criticism but the shower in room 4 very weak/slow
Beautiful countryside setting. The staff were friendly and efficient. Real ale and pleasant wine on offer. The food on offer was mediocre.
Our room was ok, but would have loved to be able to open a window. Not possible as the frames were painted over. The shower was a bit of a dribble (room 7).
Lovely staff, great room, delicious food
There was a wedding going on which we should have been informed about before our stay. There were loud wedding guests shouting outside our room from the car park late at night. They were constantly running through the bar/restaurant area all evening and during breakfast.
Location is great - in a nice part of the country side. Room was laid out well and the bed was comfortable. The evening meal was decent, although the menu was a little limited. Bar selection was good. The place had a good feel to it. Breakfast was fine.
We weren’t told that there was a wedding party taking place when we booked. Quite rightly, the wedding party were having a great time, however, they took over the place with loud music until 12.30 am and then people talking loudly until gone 2am - not relaxing at all and led to a poor nights sleep. Absolutely no fault of the wedding party - it was their special day. However, when I informed the manager that we’d had a bad nights sleep, he said that they had made booking.com aware of the wedding and they should have informed us! If they had then I wouldn’t have booked that night as it spoiled what could have been a very enjoyable stay. Shame really.
The property was beautiful and the room and views amazing my only gripe would be that although the room was ready we couldn’t utilise it until we had made a payment of 25. I understand that we arrived prior to the 3.00 check in but if the room was ready why did we have to make a payment. We have stayed in many hotels before and never been charged an early check in fee.
Lovely quiet room, great evening meal both nights and breakfast
Lovely location. Great staff Big spacious bar
Restaurant and breakfast service is lacking basic expectations and expensive due to the captive market Bed was too small in our 'double room'
Food was superb, staff were brilliant, place was cosy and lovely and log fires burning and just everything a traditional country house hotel and pub should be.

Room was cold/ uncomfortable pillows Pricey rooms / pricey menu
Me and my partner met here last year. We wanted to come back as the Shireburn holds special memories but is also a lovely venue. The staff made the stay extra special by making sure we had a lovely double room for our stay. The staff are all so friendly and attentive and it was lovely to chat to them all. We started the evening after check in with a few drinks in the bar area where the fires were lit and it was a cosy environment. Afterwards we decided to stay at the Shireburn for dinner which was a decision I do not regret. The food was lovely and again the atmosphere in restaurant area made it even nicer. The room was spotless and the bed was super comfy. I can’t wait to come back again and make this a special place to re visit.
Very helpful staff and lovely accommodation and food
Cleanliness, quiet. Bathroom facilities are good
I stayed in Room 23. Bed was very uncomfortable, upon checking out left with upper back pain. Service could have been a bit better especially for my first night there. Had to wait at the bar at one point for at least 10-15 mins to catch someone's attention as the bar/restaurant area was pretty much empty. Was difficult trying to identify staff members upon arrival, one staff member in particular just listening to music through headphones (over the head) whilst working his shift in the eyes of the customers. No shops to go around in the area so quite hard for solo travellers who can't drive. Need to drive 10-15 mins way at least to get to your nearest shop. Didn't want staff going into my room to clean until I left that morning. Message completed ignored as when I left I had a small amount of money and a pair of airpods in plain sight and it's all about safety and security for me. So obviously remember to take everything with you or lock them out of sight. Reception quite hard to find if your a first time customer there it's not plain sailing from the moment you arrive. Nobody to greet you either at the front door. Staff didn't ask you how was your stay or if everything was ok upon checking out which was a first for me. I unfortunately won't be going back there any time soon. For £170 for 2 nights I was very disappointed.
Excellent from the moment we checked in. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great food and lovely room. Excellent price. It was just me and my daughter having a night away and it was perfect. What more could you ask for?! We will definitely be back.
Lovely friendly staffVery tasty homecooked food
Not being made aware of steep stairs leading to the room on booking
The first room we had was not reset / cleaned but moving us to a prepared room was no trouble and the staff were extremely friendly in resolving the issue; our room was cosy and fit the vibes well of getting away to a lovely location to do some walking. Breakfast was delicious and we dined in the restaurant each day as the food was wonderful and there were plenty of options we wanted to try.
A wonderful Lancashire breakfast welcomed us every morning. We have recommended this establishment to our friends who will love the walks, and beautiful surroundings.
The service was excellent, the suite was very well equipped, the bath was large and comfortable, shower was warm, room was very cold to start with but the electric radiators didn't take too long to warm the room while we had dinner.
Water pressure was very low and hot water outside of the shower was virtually non-existent, thick dust behind the TV was disappointing and no shelving in the bathroom made things more difficult than necessary.
