Pros +

  • The food was excellent! Breakfast outstanding
  • room 7 nice but small ..near kitchen vents breakfast ok ,,, lacking fresh fruit bowl just .. [grapes / voghurt ? ] v poor breakfast sausages [ fatty / tastleless ] otherwise ok !!
  • They have a broad menu of well cooked food. Staff were kind and very hepful. The Inn is very well placed overlooking the Ribble with lovely countryside.

Cons -

  • had to get rid of 12 spiders in roomhad the posset which had clearly been sat in the fridge for over a week - rock hard.
  • see above !! :)
  • The breakfast menu lacked fruit compote and diced fruit. There was a fruit bowl of unprepared fruit. The bathroom had nowhere that you could place your toilet bags. The room only had one seat, my partner had to use the bed to read. The Inn is on the corner of a very busy road and traffic noise is prevalent more than you would expect in such a remote location.

The food was very tasty and belied the menu which looked as though it was going to be standard 'pub grub'

It was a long wait for food after ordering. The traffic immediately outside. Too many drivers seemed to think it was a racetrack.

Peaceful and pretty location on the river just a few miles from the bustling town of Clitheroe and other pretty villages

Would have been useful to have a shelf or somewhere to put things in the spacious bathroom.

Lovely staff.Good breakfasts and evening meals.Comfortable bed and good shower. Nice location with ample parking.

It would be even better if the mezzanine area in room 6 could be set out as a sitting area. This would make this a very nice bedroom. It could then be changed to extra beds as and when required.

Great position, comfy bed.

Room 6 was dark with only 1 small window. Room smelt terribly of fried food as kitchen extractor was outside so had to have air con on all weekend. Also a lot of dog hair still evident on floor and blanket.

Lovely location opposite a stream looking over fields into the countryside. Comfortable and cozy. Lots of short and longer walks out into the countryside. Friendly service.

Very comfortable room and good facilities. Friendly and efficient staff. Delicious food.

Food at breakfast time took a while to be served.

very clean, amazing staff, and the food was great. Can't fault it at all. I would highly recommend, and we will be back

Dinner and service were very good, and there was a pleasant atmosphere in a comfortable dining room. Breakfast was provided before normal start time as we had to leave early. Bed was comfortable and room clean.

The room was very drab.Breakfast time on a Saturday was 9 am which was too late for us and could have been a problem. However we were given our breakfast at 8.45. Other guests also turned up before 9, but were also served.

Really accommodating - allowed us to check in early before we went to an event. Sorted taxis out. Couldn't do enough for us. Really trendy rooms. Great breakfast.

Perfect place for a getaway! Beautiful rooms decorated to a high standard, great staff and a lovely location too. Excellent breakfast selection and evening meal was also really good.

It was all good - loved the attention to detail.

The Spread Eagle is a delightful old pub on the banks of the river Ribble. The room was lovely and we enjoyed good food at dinner and breakfast. The village of Sawley with its abbey ruins is delightful. The staff at the pub were pleasant enough but not very welcoming or warm. After our evening meal we went in the bar for a drink and it was cold so I asked if they would light the fire but was told that it was too late ( it was 8.20pm) and they would be closing soon. Also the radiators in our bedroom had been turned off but they did turn those back on. The service was rather abrupt also. I would recommend this pub for its facilities, food and location but the staff need to be more engaged with their customers.
