- We stayed at this hotel recently, and overall, it left us disappointed. We arrived just before 5 p.m., two hours after check-in, and the room wasn’t ready. We had to chase an update ourselves, though they did offer a complimentary drink during the wait. Still, we lost a couple of hours due to poor communication. The room was clean but dated. Unfortunately, we ran into a series of frustrating small details. The QR code in the room didn’t link to anything useful, and there was no menu for room service. We asked for a menu—none existed. We were told to Google it. In the bar, there wasn’t a drinks menu either, and staff told us we’d have to go to the restaurant on the other side of the hotel just to see one. For a large bar, that felt bizarre.Simple things were missing: we asked multiple times for a pen—none were available. There was water in the hallway, but no signage, so we had to investigate on our own.The breakfast experience was another problem. We filled out the door card for a custom breakfast, but what arrived didn’t match what we selected—they just seemed to decide for us. The second morning, we went to the restaurant instead. No one explained anything—we were seated and left to figure out it was a buffet. No proper coffee, no guidance—again, it was up to us to guess how things worked. In short, the staff did rectify some issues, but the hotel needs much better organization. Details matter, and these were lacking at every turn.
Cons -
- Bar menu extremely limited, no doubt to ensure guests eat in restaurant.
- Although I appreciate the need for housekeeping to access and sort the rooms out, it is noisy if you are having a lay in.

The location was great and they allowed dogs. Food was fantastic also. And my kids loved the pool
The wait on food which delayed our activities we had planned and stopped some due to the time we were there. And I asked for a last check out which I'd of hoped because of the inconvenience of waiting almost 2 hours overall for food would have been complimentary as we didn't make the pool in the evening as hoped. So had to for the morning
Beautiful and peaceful location. The staff were friendly and very well turned out. The room was clean and well proportioned, breakfast was very nice.
Consideration of a one off charge for our pet, rather than a per night charge as she doesn`t use any of the facilities.
Comfy bed and clean room, pleasant staff especially waiting staff and Receptionist
The noise from car park due to being next to the golf course , lots of activity , so not a relaxing birthday break for my husband , we asked to be moved, no availability, food was not great and over priced, not a lot of choice for gluten free, , asked chef to adapt a dish, was refused, so ended up ordering starter and sides, one dish was inedible , which was kindly removed from the bill and breakfast was the worst my Husband had ever had and gluten free options was sparse again .
Spa and bar
Breakfast was good but not much of it
lovely clean spacious room with bath and shower options, lots space to walk, friendly staff , spa perfect with pool and steam rooms options, food lovely and options of drinks. relaxing area to chill. plenty parking space, Great pubs close not far from the hotel via car
the WIFI was a bit slow and no reception for my mobile, would be good to have the breakfast including the rate of the room as need s to pay additional cost,
had lovely quiet spacious room. clean, heating much better as other hotels to control regulate, friendly staff, love the spa with lots options of steam room and great size of swimming pool. friendly staff and lovely food from bar to choose from. The area to chill and walk outside. Plenty parking.
Breakfasts spa everything
The prices of food were a bit over the top
Beds very comfortable, room warm & everything very clean.
Lights in bedroom & bathroom quite dim. No USB ports for phone charging
The room was nice and spacious. The staff very friendly.
The Salt Restaurant is poor. Choice of food on menu good however half of the items were ‘unavailable’.Same at the bar, how can a 4 star hotel not have any lemon for your G&T (they did manage to find some eventually but it shouldn’t be an issue in the first place). Whoever is doing the ordering isn’t doing their job very well and it spoils the hotel experience
Lovely facilities, felt away from the world but also a short walk from the village
Nothing. The heater in the room made a clunking noise at 6am both days for quite a while which disturbed our sleep.
It was so comfortable......greeted by every member of staff.......food excellent. Spa lovely and clean and such good value....Beautiful grounds and just a perfect weekend
This hotel is luxurious, spacious, immaculately kept and in gorgeous Cheshire countryside. Very convenient for trips to North Wales, Chester, Liverpool and Nantwich. The staff were exceptionally good, and helpful (notably Joe on reception) but all staff really unusually helpful. The room was spacious and comfy and spotless. The restaurant and breakfast are very good, with excellent Gluten Free options (great for Coeliacs like myself). Staying at this hotel reminded me of how good hotels can be. Such a long stretch from some of the ropey London hotels I have stayed in recently.
Only the fog.
Location and feel of the Hotel felt presidential and the Swimming pool is great.
Internet service was inadequate and not secure. Rooms are dated. breakfast was expensive for what you can get, (limited Hot options)
Excellent staff; lovely room. Good leisure area with spa facilities although we didn’t use the spa.
Pool isn’t very deep!
Very friendly and helpful staff
Extremely soft pillows - not comfortable for usVery cold bathroom
Lovely warm and professional greeting at check in.Plenty of parking . Spacious room. Very comfortable bed, quiet room , good choice of tea/ coffee options.
Lighting in car park and entry to drive is poor. Lucky guess that I was walking in the right direction for reception.Limited food choice for bar menu after 6pm.
Nice big room and comfortable bed, big size bath with with bath.
When arrived was dark and car park was very unlit small signs only seen last minute on where to park. In bathroom the heated towel rail was taped up and didn’t look safe did mention to reception on departure, told it’s due to be looked at soon. Small bits of cleaning had been missed in bath room and in bedroom on skirting boards.
