Pros +
- We found the Gin house to be clean, staff great, breakfast good and in an excellent position. Couldn't fault it and great value for money, would definitely be staying there again.
- Very clean and a good-sized room.
- Nicely situated with plenty of free parking. Hotel was clean and warm. Staff ( Katerina?) were very helpful and friendly. Very welcoming to dogs
Cons -
- Nothing really.
- Anyone arriving with a dog should note that there’s an additional £10 charge for staying with a dog. The issue is that there’s no mention of this on Booking.com before payment, and we were also not informed about it over the phone, even though we called the number listed on the hotel’s Booking page before finalizing the reservation to check this specifically, and were told there’s no extra charge for a dog. When we arrived at the hotel, the person at reception said there is a charge and that we needed to pay an extra £10, even though we had been told otherwise on the phone. He claimed he had no idea who had answered the call and that the information we received was incorrect, but we verified with him that it was indeed the correct phone number leading to the hotel.Breakfast was very minimal, with no vegan or gluten-free options.

Nothing really
That is was easy to get to and had parking available nearby
The breakfast options were limited and had to pay extra if you wanted hot breakfast.
Very basic room in a funky old building. Well located as a stop before jumping about a local ferry to Argyll. Very personable staff.
Easy to find, close to the water
Room was a bit small for two. Had to buy an extension cable as there were only 2 sockets (on same side of room), one for kettle and one for bedside light. When we stayed before a cooked breakfast was included, but this time only a continental was included - cooked breakfast was extra.Staff in the bar (especially Tracy) were very nice and made us feel welcome.
The room was spacious, the staff were very helpful and kind and the Saturday evening entertainment was unexpected and a lot of fun!
It was a bit noisy outside our room after the entertainment was over but it didn’t last too long.
Location Frendlyness of staff
No lift in hotel
The staff were amazing. Thank you. They stored our bags, as we arrived early. On check in, they offered my daughter a glass of juice. They helped us carry our bags upstairs. Everyone was just so lovely. Thank you. Would definitely stay again. Great value for money.
LOts of plugs in the room.
NO WIFI this is in spite of booking.com saying excellent. You need to get it straight!!!!!!!
Room was very nice and comfortable.Plenty parking and friendly staff.Near train station as well which is good if walking with luggage.
Cannot fault anything about it as good to see a business providing a public service.
Only when we still had one night left they toke our bedroom bin before and didn’t give us one back so we had no bin for the last night and they throw away some food that we were going to have later.
Breakfast nice staff helpful
Could not get internet in room… signal stopped at door.Garbage left in room for 3 days…In Previous stays 2 weeks earlier cleaning staff left my door unlocked!!! Not impressed as was staying by myself on that visit.
Best location. Easy to locate.Outside hotel, Nice walk along lake side.Around hotel, number of good restaurants and supermarkets,, gym, activity center.Beautiful location outside hotel.Rooms are clean.
Small room, TV not working.Normal breakfast of cereals, bread slices , croissants and coffee. My room, no views outside windows.
Clean room, welcoming staff. Free parking. Free drinks from the bar besides, I think it’s for the live music until 10pm which might be annoying for some people who needs sleep.
No lift. Breakfast is a let down said by my partner. He was expecting a Scottish breakfast. For me, I like it to have basic toast with jam/ coffee and juices.
What was there to like???? Arrived at this hotel 15/3/25, fully paid for to find out it has been closed down since November 2024.
The fact booking.com is advertising a hotel that does not exist and took my money, oh and left myself and friends with nowhere to stay
Well first of I never stayed at the property coz of unforeseen circumstances my booking was cancelled I never cancelled my booking yous did on your end cancelled my booking booking.com and they are giving me a £6 pond refund for a stay that NEVER HAPPENED and a get charged the full price terrible standards!!!

Lovely, clean, warm and very welcoming. Treated well by the staff, looked after and welcomed. Nice and close to the port and centre of Greenock. Would recommend.
Ava greeted me at reception on arrival and went over & above to assist me
An additional plug socket in bedroom
Was basic but spotlessly clean and excellent value for money. The continental breakfast was varied and plentiful. Would definitely recommend
