It was very clean, neat, and easy in and out access from room to vehicle. The included breakfast was actually very good, too. Not all hotel included breakfast is good, but this one definitely was!

Great location and friendly staff!
All the rooms are well designed and very spacious. The soundproof is very good. It's a wedding weekend with many guests, but it's really quiet inside the bedroom. The location is great, walking distance to many restaurants, art center and beach.

The hotel looked new and clean.
The staff is amazing and kind
It was clean, and the rooms were large enough for my family of 5. We were able to stay in one room. We stayed one night here and the next two nights at the Kohler resort. The rooms at the Kohler resort were smaller, overpriced and uncomfortable.

Top Tips
- Reserve lakeside hotel rooms 3-4 months ahead for summer weekends. Rates can jump 40-60% compared to weekdays during peak season (June-August). Check for brand loyalty member early-booking perks, as some programs offer advance access or discounts during peak demand.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speeds when booking, especially for remote work. Downtown hotels average 25-50 Mbps, while rural outskirts can dip below 10 Mbps. Most top hotel chains allow pre-arrival Wi-Fi speed check via loyalty apps or by contacting the front desk.
- Request upper-floor rooms at highway-side motels to reduce noise. This can cut decibels by approximately 30% from Highway 151 traffic, which peaks 6-8 AM.
- Avoid 'resort fees' at inland properties. These $15-$25 USD (approx. €14-€23) nightly fees are typically only charged by lakefront hotels in Manitowoc. Verify the resort fee policy both directly with the hotel and by checking the booking summary, as chain properties may waive fees for certain memberships.
- Utilize hotel shuttles for airport transfers. Manitowoc County Airport (MTW) lacks rideshares, and shuttles are often free or cheaper than taxis ($15 USD vs. $25+ USD). Reserve your shuttle in advance, as some brands offer digital scheduling or priority service for elite members.
- Check for maritime festival blackout dates. Mid-July's Maritime Week can trigger 2-night minimums and 20% rate hikes downtown, so complete your booking by February for the best rates.
- Bring allergy medication for lakeside stays in June. Pollen counts can peak at 8.2 (high) near wetlands, while inland areas average 4.1 (moderate). Some chains offer allergy-friendly room upgrades, such as HEPA filters or hypoallergenic bedding - request these if you have sensitivities.
- Book lakefront motels 6-8 weeks ahead for July 4th week. Rates typically increase 35-50% during this period, with full sell-outs common by mid-June.
- Choose downtown hotels for walkable access to HarborView Pavilion events. Properties within 0.5 miles can save approximately $15-$20 USD in ride-share costs per event night during summer festivals. Many downtown hotels also provide access to fitness centers and business lounges.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speed if working remotely. Independent inns average 32 Mbps download, and fiber-equipped hotels often list 'Wave Broadband' in amenities for strong signals. Chain properties may offer faster Wi-Fi for loyalty members or upgraded room categories.
- Always decline dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at Manitowoc gas stations and rental kiosks. DCC markups average 5-8% at non-bank ATMs and car rental counters.
- Request step-free rooms early. Only 39% of pre-1970s motels have ADA-compliant units, and only 19 of Manitowoc's 48 motels built before 1980 have full step-free access. Call ahead to confirm accessible rooms, as major chains typically offer more ADA-compliant units than older independent motels.
- Skip bottled water. Manitowoc's municipal supply meets all EPA standards with TDS under 120 mg/L, and no advisories have been issued since 2016. You may also request filtered water at the front desk, as some chains provide complimentary bottles for loyalty members.
- Tip 15% at full-service restaurants. Local dining norms cap gratuities at 15% unless the party exceeds six people, as per Manitowoc County Restaurant Association guidelines. Always check if a service charge is already included, as this is common in full-service hotel restaurants.
- Monitor seasonal road salt residue and request ground-floor storage for bike rentals. Wisconsin DOT applies 180-220 tons of salt per winter mile on US-10/US-41, so storing bicycles indoors can reduce corrosion risk.
- Use Mead Public Library for high-speed public Wi-Fi. A free 94 Mbps fiber connection is available at 707 Quay St, which is 2.5 times faster than average café Wi-Fi. Most hotels also have business center Wi-Fi available as an alternative for after-hours work.
- Avoid motel bookings north of 10th Street on Friday nights during high school football season (August 25-October 20). Local traffic spikes 40% near Roosevelt Field, increasing check-in delays. If available, select properties that offer express or online check-in to minimize wait times.
- Check for Shoreline Recycling access if minimizing waste. Only four hotels partner for in-room bin service, while others require guest drop-off at 1101 S 8th St.
- Verify heating type in off-season stays (November-March). Older motels with electric baseboard heat may incur $15-$25 USD (approx. €14-€23) extra monthly utility fees compared to gas-fired systems.
