    Pros +

    • Great location for the town centre, lovely friendly staff , comfortable room. Food is very good had dinner in the 1808 bar. Lots of choice at breakfast.
    • the rooms where warm and comfortable i liked the fact that some hotels still provide nice biscuits and hot chocolate. the staff where very helpful even after I forgot to take some belongings.
    • Location, hotel room clean and tea and coffee along with towels changed and replenished daily.

    Cons -

    • Nothing, 2nd stay here and will definitely be back again when visiting the family.
    • menu was a little limited.
    • Hotel bar was not accessible to guests. There were many private functions at the same time both Friday and Saturday. Reception advised we would have to ask bar staff if we could access it as there might not be room. This is a first and unacceptable. When booking and staying in a hotel private functions should NOT impact paid guests. We should have had access to bar without having to ask. Bed was very uncomfortable. Was NOT worth the money. We could have got better facilities in Glasgow. Shame on hotel. You should not promote this hotel without advising access to hotel facilities might be compromised!! Reduction of payment and a refund would sort this out!!

Great check in, staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. We ate in the bar and food was very good and reasonably priced. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast has plenty of choice for everyone.

This was not an issue for us but worth noting there is no lift to the upper floors in the main building so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues.

It was fine. The room was very clean, and it was comfortable. Staff were all pleasant and helpful

Nothing I actively disliked - possibly the choice of beer in the bar - but nothing that wowed me either.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Lovely bar and food. Lovely big fluffy towels in the room.

The room we had was a bit dark, no main light and one of the light over the mirror wasn’t working.

Firstly, the staff are amazing. Very helpful and kind. Sadly the hotel needs a lot of work/refurb. The hotel did have refurb work which meant rooms were without hot water, but the staff helped me move. Also the breakfast is always very tasty and as I have to leave early I often get there before the start time, but the staff are always kind and as accommodating as they can be..

The rooms are not in a good condition. Refurb work made things worse and frankly it was not really fit for a 4star hotel. But the staff were great about it and tried their best.

Lovely friendly staff, beautiful modern decor in a classic style. Great food in stylish

Could do with a lift to upper floors

The room was clean and comfortable

The door leading to the back of the property was very loud when closing , it wasn't a big problem as the door was closed to the public at 10pm

    10DenisePosted on: 12-28-2025

Deluxe room was spacious and so comfortable. A lot of stairs to climb but worth it.

The UHT milk sachets for tea were off, but not a problem as milk was given as a replacement.

The hotel itself is lovely and the staff are all very friendly and very helpful. The Christmas decorations were beautiful too!

The room was a little dated but had everything you need in it.

Excellent location and great value for money

Few water marks on ceiling and lampshades a bit tatty

Our room was quiet and comfortable. The night before we ate a delicious meal in the bar of the hotel in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

Professional, friendly, accommodating and generous staff

More light to work in the room in the early hours

    7RosemaryPosted on: 12-3-2025

Well maintained in public areas. Bedding comfortable and clean.

Little sound proofing between rooms, could hear every word of neighbours conversations. Efficient rather than friendly service was a little cold.
