- Clean, comfortable and friendly place, v helpful staff, and a very good breakfast as part of the deal - recommended.
- I left Sunday morning before breakfast & I was delighted to be given a pack-breakfast. Bacon roll, small pastries & Juice.
- Room was very modern and bathroom exceptional.Good ParkingFine Dining from a well designed menu.
Cons -
- It's a bit pricey, but if you want to be in Little Downham specifically, the convenience outweighs the cost, and you do get a pleasant stay for your money.
- I had phoned the week prior to my visit to say I would possibly be arriving a little after 6.00pm - I arrived at 6.10pm. There was no-one there and had I not had a relative with me, I could not have obtained the key which was in a key box with very small numbers for the code which I could not see. The lift was switched off and someone had to come to turn it on as I could not get myself & my luggage up to the room otherwise. I was informed that I had been upgraded to an executive room but it was very basic with only 1 bedside light missing and the bathroom bin had not been emptied. and there was no reasonable view from the window. When I phoned I asked about breakfast & was informed a continental breakfast could be provided. Some meat and cheese was left in the room in a cardboard box and was already 'swetting' on the Sunday evening and would have caused a possible stomach problem if eaten on the Monday - meat cannot be left overnight without being refrigerated. There is no member of staff in the hotel overnight & this is a fire hazard & also a problem for solo travellers who might have a medical emergency in the night & could not get to open the main doors to the building. The night porter was 1 hour away from the building and were there a fire (I was visiting someone in hospital who had been in a fire) there would be no Fire Marshall with a list of the occupants of the building to give to the Fire Brigade. I was informed by phone on the Sunday that I could be reimbursed but I had nowhere else to go at that time on a Sunday night and my relative had to leave & was not from the area. The manager has suggested that I had not phoned in advance and this is a lie - I did phone. I would never stay there again.

This was a stressful and miserable stay last Sunday night and the night porter was not helpful.

Friendly manager, spotlessly clean, very comfortable room.
Nothing we didn’t like.
Location is good
Has to be the most uncomfortable bed we have had misfortune to try & sleep in. We could feel every spring which pinged when we turned over. We were told we were being upgraded free to an executive room. There was not one thing I could see that made it an executive room or even an upgrade. It overlooks the function/restaurant area so was noisy but thankfully finished just after 11pm.
Lovely people, good food and clean
Very uncomfortable beds!
The breakfast was expensive for what it was - £25 for two continental breakfasts.
We could have been told that breakfast was not a full English, and the price before we had it. A bath mat in the bathroom would have been useful.
Breakfast poor compared to last year. Monday only had a Breakfast box
Breakfast
Clean friendly place. Meal in bar was excellent.
Bed was uncomfortable and on wheels so slid around on laminated floor. Pillows hard and too small. Tv old fashioned, could not turn off so had to pull ariel out when going to sleep. Curtains to thin and street light was very bright into room.
It was clean and tidy and the staff were very accommodating.
Parking was a bit tough owing to the car garage sharing the car park
Very clean, lovely friendly people, nice food.
Staff were really helpful and room was very comfortable.
There was a rock band playing in the room below until 11:15 pm and it was so loud that we could hear every word in our room. This together with the noise of people leaving after the gig, car doors slamming and people talking in the car park meant we didn't get to sleep until after 11:30.Having travelled a long way this was not what we needed and we would not have booked it if we had known.
It was the comfiest bed in Christendom. The friendliness and attentiveness of staff. Lovely Shower. Attentive Housekeeper.
Staff were friendly and room was clean
The shower was disappointing, way too high and you couldn't alter the height of the shower head, I am only 5ft 2” so the shower was too high for me and there was no bath in the bathroom!
Breakfast was more limited than I had expected. Meals were served in the pub - restaurant was not open, though I was allowed to eat my meal in the restaurant one night as the bar was excessively noisy and full. Staff were friendly and very helpful, but could not always overcome the lack of certain facilites. It did have a lift, at least.
The small print, hidden deep, deep down the information page hid the fact well that meals were not served on Sunday night .. and the bar was shut. I had not seen this, ans it was rgus unexpected and only because one of the staff helped me to find an alternative was I able to eat at all. Those conditions should be better highlighted, especially when a booking is for a Sunday night. It is also obvious that not all the rooms have been updated.. I had what was supposed to be a disabled room, but it was impossible to move all around the room easily. The bed should have been discarded long ago. And why do designers of disabled bathrooms always assume that you do not need anywhere to put down a toilet bag or toothbrush? It needed some shelving at the very least. Photos pf the hotel are not necessarily accurate.
good clean comfortable room
lack of comfy chair to sit on in evening (True of nearly all hotels)
Very good food, friendly and helpful service from all staff. Comfortable
Nothing to say, all good
It was a nice room that was very clean and reasonably comfortable. No air conditioning, but they provided a fan which did the job. The hotel staff were also all very lovely and very accommodating. At breakfast they went out of their way to help me as I needed gluten free food, so they cooked me a couple of eggs, which they don't normally do as it's a continental buffet breakfast, which was very nice of them and much appreciated.
it's a little bit out of the way, but I knew that when I booked it. It was also expensive for what it was at £130 a night, but many places were fully booked so I expect the price went up to reflect that. The evening menu at the restaurant was mostly burgers and fried food and while the quality was OK, the service was slow.
The room was comfortable clean and nice, quiet and I slept very well. The staff has been very nice and friendly
Unfortunately there wasn't any public transport during the weekend and the connection with the town centre is non-existent if you are not going there with a car. (Clearly not the hotel's fault for that).
