Pros +
- Very friendly staff who made us feel like regulars in the pub
- Great price. Helpful, friendly staff. Lovely location.
- Location convenient for us, quiet, comfortable nights sleep, provided reasonable food and a good pint
Cons -
- Breakfast was served too late for me as I had to leave by 08:00.
- A bit grubby and run down. Staffing interesting, maybe some training needed and more staff on at breakfast
- Moved rooms as blocked sink. Cold tap came out warm/ hot water. Fire exit was locked we had to ask them to unlock it. Definitely not worth £90 a night which didn't include breakfast. Bed was very uncomfortable with spring sticking out. Shower scotching hot no cold water.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Red Lion. All the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed 2 good evening meals there too. The pub is in a nice village between Ely and Cambrige , so it is conveniently located for visiting both.. Newmarket is close by as wellThe pub and accommodation were slightly dated, but that added to its charm as a village pub.. We had a twin room , everything worked, and the housekeeping daily was excellent. Would definitelystay there again if we were to go up that way in the future.
Staff were all lovely and went out of their way to help in every way. Brilliant location. delicious homemade food.
Location. Staff member was friendly

Staff were friendly and obliging. On arrival we were dealt with promptly and taken to our rooms.
The Red Lion is a lovely pub that would benefit from a bit of an update.
Breakfast n/a. Good location. Friendly bar and staff. Good parking and dog friendly.8
Staff were helpful in the morning after how stay
No hot water, room dirty, cobwebs hanging down from torn lightshades. Radiator filthy.what a waste of money.
Good location, could have done with redecorating. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was presented well and hot.
Just needed decorating.
The location was very good and there was plenty of parking. Because there was street food van there, the day we got there meant you could not have a meal at the pub. My mother is elderly and did not like what the street food van had so she could not have food at the pub and I had to take her to another place to eat.
You have to pay for breakfast. At the price they charge, you would expect breakfast at no extra cost
I stayed two nights but when I arrived on Friday having driven for 3 hours I found there was no chance of getting a meal just a burger from a van in the car parkBreakfast isn’t served before 0900 which was too late so NO evening meal and NO breakfast my purpose in choosing a hotel is that you can have a meal. The room was fine and quiet just needed to be able to find light switch to light up the staircase which were in a time switch
Sorry see aboveFood very basic
The location was fine for the purpose of our journey but there weren’t anything else but this property around so very difficult find other place where to eat or buy something. The village is very small indeed. The breakfast wasn’t the best, really poor but fair to the price paid for it which is not included in the booking.
They put us in a smoking room adapted to a room for travellers with a small dog. The smell was really intense and I also paid extra for the dog, which is something that normally doesn’t bother me but this time really got me. The food was very poop and dinner expensive too compared to quality of food.
Fabulous dinner and fabulous breakfast? Lovely staff and a very comfortable room
Location, free car parking
Dirty uncomfortable badly-lit room. Shower too hot to use. Bathroom light didn’t work (shaver), mould in bathroom, electrical socket hanging off wall, noise from outside kitchen fan randomly, poor breakfast (no cereal, small portion, milk ran out and no-one refilled it), weekday breakfast far too early. Corridor outside room very hot. Windows were old and wouldn’t open.
Staff friendly, location was convenient for me.
Decor a bit tired, toilet not terribly well attached to the floor which was disconcerting...
The 'traditional English pub' atmosphere , no thrills or gimmicks , set in the heart of a very quiet village
The food and clean towels
Room was small, hot,Minimal ventilation and kitchen extract fans were noisy
The location was convenient for local atractions and the Full English breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home.We had a lovely stay and are looking forward to visiting again.
This is a minor point but the window latch was damaged making it difficult to open and leave on the latch to allow fresh air into the room on a hot day.
Clean and tidy, Nice bathroom with shower and shower gel and shampoo. TV was just about ok.
No food was available when we arrived on Saturday at 14.00. The room was unbearably hot and difficult to cool down, as it had only a ceiling fan and 2 small windows to open. Passageway was even hotter and the windows did not open. Beds were hard and a bit lumpy, and the shower head was not very efficient. The refreshments were of poor quality. Not good value for money.
