Pros +
- The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good with a wide range of choices. Beds were comfortable. The sitting room and bar area were good for guests to gather in the evening.
- The Q is a pleasant hotel with decent rooms and pleasant lounge and bar areas. The location is convenient and walking distance from the beaches at Shanklin. The staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast was outstanding, everything tasted very fresh and obviously cooked to order.
- Breakfast was very good. Location of the hotel was ideal for us as we could walk to the village
Cons -
- One of the rooms was quite small for a double room, if a single bed was there instead it would give more space to move around and for clothes storage.
- Some of the decor could do with touching up (chipped paint etc.) which detracted from the effort that had obviously gone into choosing the colour schemes and furnishings. One of the lounges was spoiled by being used as a storage room for left over panels and decorating paraphernalia.
- Would have liked a chair in our room, rather than sitting on the bed.

Would have liked a chair in our room, rather than sitting on the bed.
Room was good we had a view of the sea. The breakfast was lovely and great selection. The sauna and hot tub were excellent.
Fantastic staff and breakfasts.
Very very far from disabled access bathroom.
Fantastic hotelWonderfully decorated. Very friendly staff. Room was amazing and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. All for such a low cost. Top marks.
Didn’t have breakfast, but room very nice, clean and comfortable.
As an OAP the location although beautiful was not suitable for me.
Great location, super friendly family run Hotel. A short 5 minute walk into the centre of Shanklin with its thatched buildings. The room was warm and comfortable with good facilities. Although the weather was very cold, the roaring wood burner made the lounge a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy a few drinks from the well stocked bar. The dining area has been decorated very well in a chic bistro style. The breakfast was superb and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Although the restaurant is closed for lunch/dinner during the winter months there are numerous restaurants in Shanklin.Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, we will return.
Great location, just a short walk from the railway and bus station as well as the lift to the beach.
Clean, dog friendly room. Staff were really helpful and accommodating. Great location for the beach and seafront restaurants.
The majority of hotel staff were friendly. The communal decor was up to date. The bed was comfortable (lots of pillows).
Lack of parkingAwful breakfast (mis sold) Wall paper / paint in bedroom peelingShower poor pressure / took a long time to heat upLots of typos in guest welcome packRequested quiet room and was above bar at the front of building (main road) loud floor boards
Lovely comfortable bed
Bar wasn’t open, restaurant wasn’t open, no breakfast available, at times no one on reception, no security as no staff in the building late at night, tv in lounge didn’t work, shower was cold, sign outside advertising Sunday roast and entertainment. Neither were available. Shocking.
Very good value for money and the owners and staff are super friendly. Breakfast is also very good
My only gripe was the sink/side unit could definitely do with repainting , it really let the room down
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Room and bathroom were clean. Room was spacious for 1 person and there was ample storage space. Wi-fi worked well. It is quiet enough area (at least in this time of the year), yet close to the center. TV is large, maybe instead of it, some of the money should have been invested in other details.
Bedside table is higher than the bed and very easy to hit your head on it, when sleeping/waking up. Some parts of the room are new/repaired, some still need some work (bedside table being basically just a frame with a hole, which could have been a drawer, etc). The hotel (halls, outside) looks old and in need of some clean-up.
Very comfortable bed ,good sleep clean room and relaxing stay
On the whole the breakfast was very good, full English was excellent, well cooked and generous portions, one of our group had a continental one morning and was surprised to have to pay the same for just two pastries and a slice of toast !
We had two twin rooms , both of which had a very small toilet and shower area, the sink was in the bedroom...it was kept very clean .
Lovely stay . Comfy, friendly and excellent food. The staff were friendly and conscientious. Was a real bonus being able to have a dip in the pool after our long walk from Chale to shanklin.
It is a nice looking hotel, I love the decoration. Rooms are comfortable, staff is really helpful and available to help. Swimming pool with climatization. Good location near the beach, the Chine, old town.
I think that the swimming pool floor needs to be renewed and also the mattresses
Staff were very friendly. Hotel was well situated in the area. Rooms were nicely cleaned daily. Food was good
Ridiculously large tv in quite a small room. Breakfast was not managed properly as lack of replenishment. Swimming pool needs attention however could be because end of season
location was great. the dining room, bar looked stunning but rapidly went downhill the closer to the bedrooms you got.
parking was not great . room was awful, tv was difficult to use. large gaps under door which wind blew threw and made a loud noise ( had to block with towels) fan In bathroom broke and did not get fixed even though we reported it. pool was dirty.
