Cons -
- We paid for Bed and breakfast for 3 nights 2nd and 3rd day no breakfast was available and we were not told that they got it from the bakery next door Dennis is a celiac so that was not very good and we had to go to the bakery to explain to the staff
- No view, only 1 small chair and stool to sit on, no hooks in bathroom or place to hang towels.
- It’s desperate in need of moderation and a lick of paint

The beds, the breakfast, the shower, the location.
No view, only 1 small chair and stool to sit on, no hooks in bathroom or place to hang towels.
Very convenient for all the amenities and central to the town

Someone on hand to greet and show me my room. Facilities in room were good. When I was finally able to get hold of the manager she was able to locate something I'd left behind - was getting no luck beforehand.
Room was freezing. And couldn't work out how to turn off the strip lighting round the bed headboard. Tried all the switches I could find. As a result, didn't sleep at all well.
When you book and pay for a 4 Star hotel, you expect 4 Star service. Unfortunately this was not my experience here. I stayed here for 3 nights, not once was my room cleaned during my stay, my bin was full too. Staying in a 4 Star hotel I expect better especially as this hotel has been commended for its cleanliness. No member of staff informed me my room wouldn’t be cleaned or explained anything I needed to do to make sure it was cleaned. The breakfast was very good, only spoilt by the infernal racket coming from the radio in the breakfast room. What makes the staff think guests aged 50+ dining want to listen to Radio 1 blaring at 9 o’clock in the morning?
The hotel itself was really nice and clean and the bed was so comfy we had an amazing sleep, the breakfast was great! we really enjoyed the food and the location was so good too.
The only let down for me was after asking a simple question I overheard a member of staff through a door ask if I was “f***ing joking” and refer to me as a “f***ing d***head” which didn’t exactly make me feel comfortable, the staff I personally spoke with were very kind and helpful but that encounter I overheard made me feel uncomfortable
Ok, but breakfast room needs updating.
Furniture needs updated and tea making facilities need updating.
Good evening meal had mixed grill, was excellent value and very good breakfast.
Wasn’t keen on the amount of cigarettes stumped out by back door.
The pub area is nice and the hotel is very central with parking. Staff are helpful and the food is good.
The bed was advertised on booking.com as an extra large double which it definitely wasn't. At best it was king size. Consequently we had an uncomfortable cramped night.
Lovely and comfortable warm room. Modern deco and very friendly, professional staff. Breakfast was very nice. ???
Nothing! Was perfect.
The pub was good .a lovely atmosphere. The hallway to bedroom was quite smelly ...the door if bedroom has been broken and must have been kicked in so we felt a little unsafe .....bed and room was clean tho
As above
Great location, convenient parking at the back. Good size rooms, personable and friendly. The lady lady was exceptionally helpful.
Couldn’t open the windows very easily and lighting (however it’s is a very old building)
Jordaan the Manager has ony been in the hotel 11 months, but the work she has done is visible. After being very run down by previous managers, she has brought everything up to a good standard. The staff are efficient and friendly , and have time to chat. The room service ws efficient, and dining facilities excellent. The food was well prepared and a good price. The bar is always busy and friendly.
I would have liked some drawers to put clothes in, but I understand ths is on the list for more renovations in 2025.
Pleasant
Toilet was dirty and had to ask twice for the heating in our room to be turned on.
Our 2nd stay here. Big room. Comfy bed. Good shower. Husband loved his full English breakfast. Well done, chef. Friendly staff.
Our room was at the front of the hotel, room 1. One of the sash windows has dropped leaving a gap which allows street noise in. Other than that all was well.
everything was very good from room to breakfast, and the staff where very understanding when my little dog wet the carpet (my fault for not taking him out earlier)
there was nothing to dislike from start to finish. I will definitely stay here again
The room size was good, a good selection of teas etc The bed was very comfortable
There was a unpleasant smell in the room when I first went in . This seemed to be coming from the bathroom as I got worse as I opened the bathroom door and became obnoxious when I turned on the towel rail. It was not due to cleanliness as everything was very clean. It could be due to water getting underneath the sealed floor. It was so bad I didn't have a shower in the morning just left at 6.30 before breakfast. It's a shame as the hotel was very charismatic
Location and good facilities
Overheated, need to turn down the heating it was too hot in bed rooms and dining room.
Jordan and the team are superb, simply the best hosts and management team! Location is ideal to explore Rothbury and Cragside and surrounding Northumberland coast.
Nothing, spoke to Jordann and they’re carrying out refurbishment over the next couple of months but I like the place as it is.
