- In short this seems to be a struggling hotel in need of an update, honestly not the worst place I've stayed but I have pitched a tent behind truck stops so I'm fairly tolerant. I'm mostly just frustrated with the cost of £150 a night for a service that felt like it lagged behind a hostel.Firstly when we arrived there was a horrible smell I think coming from the bins in the kitchen that pervaded all the way up to the 3rd floor. It seeped slightly into the room but was mostly kept at bay by us keeping the window open almost all the time and the provided air freshener on.We didn't see a single staff member the entire stay which felt a bit weird and eerie to be honest. We just walked through the front door and walked up to our room and let ourselves in with a key in the door. The bar and restaurant were closed the entire 2 day stay due to staff shortages. I did manage to get hold of a staff member before we arrived with an email enquiry but wasn't able to get through on the phone before we arrived as all calls went unanswered. Our email about the smell was interestingly unanswered but the kitchen door was closed later which limited the smell a bit.The whole place was just a bit odd and needed a bit of love. Whether it's the bathrooms with their netting curtain and painted shut windows (I see these curtains were installed after complaints previously). These do provide better cover for the day time but alas I wouldn't want to shower after dark illuminated from within by the light rendering the netting useless. The shower pressure is disappointing and fiddly to use and led to my partner washing her hair under the bath tap. The sheets were freshly washed I assume by the smell but there was however a couple of stains on the sheet that you would have thought would have been addressed or replaced during the making up of the room. All in all, we were knackered and had a place to sleep with a view.

Wonderful location and a beautiful hotel! The room I stayed in was very nice with a gorgeous view. Would definitely stay again in the future.
In the interest of fairness, this hotel does have a lovely view and the king sized room we chose did have plenty of space. The closeness to the restaurants down in the centre and walks nearby was good.

Awesome location. Plenty of windows for view. Royal look and feel in the hotel. Me and my kids enjoyed it. Out of 4-5 places stayed kids have rated it as the best
All good
Upon arrival, I was met by friendly staff who directed me to my room. My room was airy and light, and everything was clean and in its place. It was a very peaceful, relaxed Hotel. I had a Chicken burger, chips, and salad. I would recommend this hotel to others.
Truthfully, nothing. It served my needs exceptionally well.
Fantastic location in the village of Strathpeffer which truly added to our tour of the Highlands. Staff were friendly and also served an excellent breakfast!

The view was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were extremely accommodating and so friendly, they even made the kids a special mocktail which they loved!!
Location
The property is In very poor state. It is definitely a work in progress; bedroom was tiny, linen had certainly seen better days, and the hot water for showers was minimal. Whilst the room seemed clean the bedside mat was not.
Lovely dinner in the evening.
The hotel is dated, very minimalistic. Shower didn't work room very small . Breakfast undercooked!
Friendly helpful staff great location

The food is to die for...Lindsay the chef produced an amazing Tasting Menu for our party of 6. Lindsay only started up here 6 weeks ago and this must become a destination for anyone who enjoys excellent food at a fair price!!!! Still a few teething problems with accommodation side of the operation but minor. Do go!
Strathpeffer as a location
Tired and tatty bedroom, bed pushed against wall, no TV. Tiny window so very dark. En suite inadequat. Not worth £130 including breakfast e . Only giving feed back as being pushed by booking.com
We liked that we had an adjoining room for our daughter, and it was quite a large space. Lovely character to the building and a great outside area and bar. We enjoyed our dinner at The Tartan Table bar, the bar snacks are huge! We accidentally ordered too much, fyi they’re more like meals! The guys running the food are separate to the hotel but still really looked after us and made sure we were ok, really friendly and chatted away with us. The bar is a really cool place to hang out.
We thought the rooms could do with a bit of attention and having some toiletries would be nice, although we understand it’s 3 star. Generous tea and coffee though! Unfortunately after the bar closed there was a lot of noise above our room and one of us found it hard to sleep. The noise really carried.
Really bad, was in room 7 landed about 20.30 and key was in the door. No food or drink on Mondays so understand everyone needs night off..Bathroom had spiders above bath and in the bath. Turn shower on to wash them away but even shower didn’t work.. toilet when flushed sounded like an orchestra… Retreat… wish I had tbh.
This quaint Victorian Scottish Highland hotel boasts valued charm and character. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Informing us of hotel cuisine and local delicacies a short walk from the hotel. The top floor hosts the King Suite where we stayed for one night and treated us to fantastic views across Strathpeffer. Late afternoon views and glorious morning sun wake up call. The hotel has a small bar, kitchen and dining room which all looked great. The owner even gave us his personal number in case we needed anything further, something you wouldn't get at larger or chain hotels. Overall this was a fantastic hotel which catered for our needs just nicely.
Location, price, restaurant
Check-in is all online, but the owner called and worked the glitches out nicely
We had a pleasant short stay for one night. The room was comfortable, and the highlight was the beautiful window view, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Smooth check-in and check-out process. Although my stay was brief, it was good. I would definitely consider returning in the future.
Hotel has bags of character...in a great location.. Strathpeffer is an absolute gem.. especially if you like hiking. View out of window was lovely. I liked the lack of television. Bath tub was great..( although a new plug would be good). Bed comfy. Only thing I didn't like is walls thin so people in next room kept me awake..
