Pros +
- Lovely hotel with good food and excellent staff. Made to feel very welcome. A very homely place to stay.
- This is a lovely little hotel. Food was good, staff were generally very pleasant and efficient. I was in one of the apartments which was spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed. Location was ideal for me. If I'm back in Wick I will stay there again.
- Clean, nice restaurant.
Cons -
- Slightly dated but still added to the charm of the hotel.
- Nothing really. I had a bit of a problem with the shower but resolved that. It was user error! The bedroom was very cold when I arrived and I had to play around with the radiator to resolve that but minor issue.
- Bed mattress was in need of replacement.

Clean, nice restaurant.
Bed mattress was in need of replacement.
The room was perfectly comfortabe, the food was lovely and the young staff were very attentive and polite.
There was a bad smell in the reception area of the hotel, which was present each time we were in this area.
The staff and food were excellent. Our room, if a little dated was perfect.
Very friendly staff all amenities covered good location
Nothing really
Bed was very comfortable and clean,
Don’t expect much — it’s an old hotel, and the carpets look like they’ve been there since Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. The smell definitely confirms it. The showerhead was covered in what looked like black mold, but it was too late in the evening for me to report it to the staff. The restaurant feels like stepping into a Back to the Future scene — very old-fashioned. The main courses were delicious, but I can’t justify paying £17 for the cheese board: three tiny slices of different cheeses with crackers that tasted like they’d been sitting open in a cupboard for too long.
Very good breakfast.
Decor is a bit tired.Restaurant menu limited and no cocktails!
Lovely stay in comfortable room and very good food with friendly staff
Great breakfast and wonderful dinner.
Signed up for an apartment. Big mistake. They moved us to a regular room which was very nice.
Such friendly staff and really lovely food which really exceeded my expectations.
The decor was a bit dated but I didn't really mind - would certainly recommend to others
I thought I had booked a room but booked an apartment. It was clean and spacious. All of the staff were excellent and seemed very well trained. The breakfast as super and they even had a toaster that toasted the bread to perfection on one pass through the machine. I've never experienced this in any hotel! We didn't have an evening meal, but wish we had looking at the meals that other customers had.
Bed could have been comfier.
The apartment was very well equipped & extremely comfortable. Helpful staff who stored my luggage for me.Good food in the Bistro.& all in the shortest street in the world.
All meals were excellent. We stayed in one of the apartments which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the guests staying in the apartment next to us on the first night were extremely noisy and appeared to be having some kind of party but the problem was resolved with help from the excellent hotel staff. Our second night was comfortable and undisturbed
The only decent hotel in Wick , a town that should be avoided if possible. The hotel is okay, a bit tired and scrappy. Room was okay but it is in a noisy location being right by the road. No 1 bistro is worth booking as it’s the only restaurant in town you would ever consider eating at.
A bit noisy due to its location. Slightly drab and dated
Central location in Wick, perfect for exploring the North East of Scotland. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly and room was relatively clean (although bathroom floor felt a bit sticky). I dined in the restaurant one night, food was excellent and service was quick.
Old building I presume, so there was a slight draught which made the bathroom door pop open and closed (it did not click shut). The duvet was also very heavy for summer so I got too warm in bed.
Location, excellent and obliging staff. Excellent restaurant. Apartments were well appointed.
No lift to apartments
The view of the river was good and convenient parking
Extremely small room and bed. Property in general needs an upgrade. It was all very tired and our room didn’t look anything like pictures on website. Didn’t get to go in bistro even though we’d booked weeks before our trip. Food in evening was good but breakfast extremely poor. You really need to improve quality of produce at breakfast as it really lets you down.
Good location, great that we had a full apartment to ourselves and that breakfast was included. Free on street parking right outside. Clean & well-aired. Did the job for our 2-night stay on the NC500.
The shower was very low pressure & not great. There was a musty smell in the living room, the kitchen was a bit bare. The mattress was hard. A refurb would be welcome.
Polite helpful staffGood restaurant
Breakfast was poor
