Lovely Room nice and warm
Bath with electric shower. But adequate
It was ok, budget, comfortable, Clean, no Breakfast available unfortunately, an old building with character, good location
Really friendly and kind staff.Bed was comfortable.
Room wasn’t clean and the bathroom was filthy. Shower didn’t work and went from scolding hot to freezing cold no matter which setting. Only two sockets worked. Fan was provided but was caked in dust.
Nothing in particular, it served its purpose. Response was good
Bedroom door was glass pane with a blind. Felt like it was an d office door, room very hot even with window open, kettle didn’t fit under the tap to fill up, TV wouldn’t switch on.Absolutely no one around. Signage to rooms could have been clearer. If there had been a fire, not sure I would have found my way out! No instructions etc re WiFi, or even a pointer where to find breakfast locally.
The hotel was cosy, comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The food was great and huge portions.
The sink in the bathroom in our room is too small. You can't turn on the water with any sort of pressure because you and the floor get soaked. It was almost impossible to fill the kettle for a cuppa. We were right over the bar.The music was loud enough we could hear the lyrics of the sings being played. Some serious soundproofing would be a massive help.
Friendly service and great ambiance and polite staff.
Nothing to do with the hotel but the roads and lanes around Sparkford are full of pot holes and gaping sections of tarmac, I sustained a cracked wheel rim due to the road conditions, I Hope the council will carry out road repairs fairly soon
Nice area, lovely looking building, plenty of parking
Room was scruffy, especially the bathroom, with old, broken fittings, marks on the carpet and dirty drinking glasses. Being one of the front rooms, with single glazing, there was a lot of noise from lorries etc passing by from the early hours. No breakfast offered either, which I hadn’t realised from the listing (that was my fault)
Room size, comfort of bed, parking, pleasant staff
No heating due to a boiler failure but Hotel did provide an electric heater when asked. Restricted Dinner Menu as they had no steaks or fish of any kind and half of rhe wines on the list were not available. No breakfast available at all! Bedroom stool leg broken and dangerous.
Polite, friendly welcome, clean large room. Plenty of heat and hot water. Slept like a log. Woken by the dawn chorus ?
Pub food was great, lots of options but a tad pricy. There is not much to do in the immediate vicinity.
Nice looking place, we didn't use the restaurant or bar but they looked nice. The location was very good.
I booked for overnight accommodation for my wife, whilst I participated in an overnight event locally. I stayed in the room to get some rest for a few hours before the event. The room was really, really cold. The radiator was on it's maximum 'allowable' heat setting and was barely warm, it seems like it is restricted. We didn't use any of your other amenities, so I cannot comment on anything else, but the lack of heat made for a truly horrible night and experience.
the room was warm
no breakfast or decent coffee provided, no hot water, no plug for the basin in order to shave
It was characterful. The bed was comfortable and the fish and chips and club sandwich we had for lunch were good. Friendly service.
The stairs and bedroom didn’t look as if they had been properly cleaned. The en-suite bathroom smelt musty and the grouting at the bottom of the shower was dirty. The hot water came out in a dribble and consequently we didn’t want to use the shower. Tiny hand basin.
Fabulous hard working staff.Food and service fabulous and great value
Dirty room. Very tired. Cold - radiators not working, portable radiator not adequate to warm room. Shower just a dribble. Very noisy above bar and front door. Also the other room was above the toilet so you could hear the door slaming and dryer going. We were there when a party was happening, so probably better on usual days.
It was right next to my friends wedding venue. And that is where the positives ended sadly.
It was very tired and dated. We paid a very high price for what we got. Our room really needs to be teared out and re done to a better standard.
The building itself is beautiful, with many of the original features. Unfortunately, these are neglected, and sadly, the potential to make the most of this historic inn is lost on the owners, Marstons.
The room was supposed to have a fridge, water, and fruit for guests. None of these were supplied. The room itself was dirty and dated. The stretch cover on the sofa was covered in hair, and upon lifting the seat cushions up to tidy, it was full of food debris and rubbish, I took all the covers off and shook it out over the bath, it was still filthy so we left it off. The flooring was dirty with dead insects and fluff. In the bathroom, there was no towel rail or toilet roll holder. The glass shelf over the basin was dangerously loose and unusable, and the mirror light did not work. The shower had no pressure, and the shower screen had a build-up of limescale and pink mould. The t.v didn't have a streaming service like netflix as stated, and there were no tea bags. Absolutely horrendous excuse for a double bed, two single beds pushed together with a duvet cover that barely fitted. There was no option for breakfast. Frankly, I'm glad there was not judging by the state of the place. Thankfully, there was a McDonald's in the area.
very close to the roadside
pub closed at 11 never served us
Lovely quiet hotel. Big clean rooms. Very friendly staff.
