    Cons -

    • Having paid over £430 for a two night stay, Monday-Wednesday we felt this hotel did not deliver at all for the following :RoomSmall double, dated, no wow factor for paying over 200 per night.Only one hand towel provided.Tea/coffee set up very basic, Pillows extremely hardUnder the shelf in bathroom badly marked, or could even be mould (not sure)BreakfastWent in for breakfast at 0900, buffetAmbients, nonePlates for hot food coldNo fried eggs, only eggs available scrambled. All supposedly hot food Luke warm with bacon cold. Two waiting staff on duty only interested in chatting to each other instead of offering any hospitality. The breakfast was so disappointing we only went on the first morning.Interesting to see that if you had not booked the breakfast the cost is only £9, guessing that is why it was not great. The biggest disappointment and this was not mentioned on either the hotels or booking.coms web site that the room would not be serviced daily, only every other day. Having stayed in numerous hotels in the UK and oversea’s before and after the pandemic having your room serviced daily is a norm, if this was not going to be the case then it should have been on the web site, if it had we certainly would not of booked.
    • Breakfast wasn’t great coffee was way to strong and the breakfast was very greasy the scramble eggs were anaemic.. would prefer the option of a choice between set breakfast that are cooked to order
    • Room bit cold but mobile radiators supplied

The room was comfortable but the toilet was running all night and wouldn't stop and the bed felt like it was right next to the boiler room, but staff are very friendly and breakfast was really nice

Very friendly and welcoming. I informed the hotel before arrival we were bringing our dog and a pet friendly room was allocated

Comfortable bed, good size room... nice staff... good breakfast.

Locality to Old Stevenage was great. The shops local were also helpful. Despite a busy Christmas Eve night in the bar we heard nothing in the room. It was warm and the bed was comfortable. The only thing not clean was the upper shelf in the wardrobe which left dust in my underwear. Perhaps a a small chest of drawers would be useful for clothes storage.

Dust on the the upper shelf in the wardrobe.

Good room with great facilities. The staff were brilliant. As my mobility is a problem they really helped me when I needed it. Thank you.

The stairs which I knew about. It's just that the decos on the handrail did get in the way a bit, but it is xmas time so accept . But overall very good stay i will be back.

The room was quiet and comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. Tea and coffee was cheap and the usual stuff you get in a premier inn, I think that for the price of the room more effort could be put into those facilities.Overall, the room was nice though. Also better pillows would also be great.

Breakfast was terrible. The coffee was like mud and the hot buffet wasn't great. Again, it felt like I was eating food from the premier inn. I just think that if you are charging a lot of money for a room that includes breakfast, then just go the extra mile and use good quality produce. The staff were nice and the dining room was comfortable but the breakfast let it down. I have eaten there before and the breakfast was delicious so it was disappointing this time.

Comfortable, traditional hotel in Stevenage Old Town.

No lift and 2 flights of stairs with luggage.

    7ChristinePosted on: 12-27-2025

    Excellent breakfast.

Poor tea/coffee tray in room, not enough milk or sugar for more than one serving each.

    9KatePosted on: 12-26-2025

Lovely room, available on Christmas night and dog friendly, just what we wanted.

    No real issues.

Beautiful Hotel Very clean and comfortable Friendly staffGreat location

Our Room was lovely but the air conditioning and heating system were outside our room and a little noisy throughout the night.

Great location for old town restaurants and walking distance to event location nearby. Quality of hotel decor and overall ambience was very comfortable. Although it was party night, our room was quietly situated. Staff were welcoming and courteous. Free parking (limited) was available.

We arrived on a festive party night. There was nowhere to sit in the small hotel bar and we were quickly aware of children jumping on the sofas and chairs, and uncleared tables. Maybe not enough staff to manage the environment for all types of guests.

    Great for old town stevenage

Wasn't told about entering car registration on arrival. There seemed to be an issue that we booked through booking.com as well, we seemed to be less welcome for some reason? Room was quite tired, heating was off when we arrived in room wasn't told how to turn it on very cold.Breakfast was at best luke warm.Unfortunately I would not return here.

Hotel Cromwell exceeded all expectation. The Staff were all friendly & helpful and were dressed very smartly. The Hotel was immaculate and had been nicely decorated for Christmas. Our bedroom was well appointed with chairs and the bed was comfortable. The Hotel was well situated for places we wanted to see in Hertfordshire.

The lighting in the bedroom could have been better.

    Holiday Inn next time

We arrived late and whilst the bar was still open the aera was being prepared for breakfast in the morning and we felt that we were in the way.We stayed for two nights but our room was not cleaned or the bed made up for the second night. Not very good for a hotel wanting a good reputation.
