About
The Cumbria Grand is on 25 acres of gardens and woodlands, and is only a 15-minute drive from Lake Windermere. It provides free Wi-Fi in public areas of the property. The bathrooms have bathtubs and showers, and the spacious rooms feature a TV, hairdryers and tea-coffee making facilities. Many rooms offer panoramic sea views of Morecambe Bay and beyond to the Yorkshire Dales. With views out over the Bay, the Hazelwood Restaurant serves traditional cuisine using the finest local ingredients. There is a wide selection of wines to accompany the menu. This charming Victorian hotel has its own tennis court, putting green and children’s play area. Indoors, there is a full-size snooker table, ping pong table and a large ballroom. The beach is within easy walking distance of the Cumbria Grand Hotel, and Grange-Over-Sands Train Station is a 10-minute walk away. Blackpool, and its airport, are 30 miles away.

Good food and beautiful views
Hotel was very dated and needs a huge upgrade
Book comfy beds, very spacious rooms. All the staff where lovely, except one on reception.
Needs a bit of Tlc but its a very old property so its to be expected The carvery on the evening meal wasn’t great
The breakfast was fine. The meal was lackluster.
The room and dining room had mould and wallpaper peeling
Old, rustic, beautiful view
You couldn’t turn the heating on and off yourself therefore at times was a little too warm however the door to the little balcony allowed the room to cool down just enough
Whilst a little dated this hotel is a treat with so many wonderful features and period charms! Everywhere you look some other fantastic feature. Huge rooms, very clean facilities. Excellent evening meal on the bar. Very dog friendly whilst being rightly restricted so as not to bother other guests.
Breakfast noted in reviews as being fab, would say was good but could have done with a little more love!
Great location good food friendly staff
It is very tired looking Hotel the rooms & bathrooms need updating desperately!!
The bed
Dogs barking, no WiFi, no heating
Really nice property, lovely big entrance and the staff members on reception were very efficient and helpful. Me and my partner stayed here for valentines weekend as we’d booked a restaurant for tea in the nearby area, if it wasn’t for that we never would have stumbled across this property and we are so glad we did. Hoping to return over spring/summer time
The view
Rooms were very dated and parking was bad. Food was not great either.
Location and overall appearance excellent
The room could do with a freshen up,
Staff friendly and polite, bar food was excellent.
Bedroom very tatty for a superior room. Bedroom , restaurant, corridors could all do with a update/ refurb.. looking very tired.
Good service
Room we booked wasn't available due to heating breaking down...
The hotel was great for the price. It's very cost efficient so I wasn't expecting much at all and was surprised as to what I got for the value. They are obviously operating on a tight budget but the staff do a great job of welcoming you and keeping you happy.
The only thing was the heating. Over night my room was freezing (6th Feb 2026) - they said they had issues with the heating but it was working in the morning so I wonder if this was cost saving?
The location was perfect and it could accommodate all our friends and family. (We had multiple bookings)
No hot water in the bathroom (301). When I advised of this, there was no apology offered. The place was dusty and cobwebs were bad in the bedroom. The staff were disinterested.
single room booked , free up grade to double room lovely calm atmosphere in bar area.
nothing stood out.
Leaving!
Dirty, damp, water running down walls, urine stained mattresses and protectors, insects living in the light fittings, vomit stains all over the carpets on the 3rd floor, soap scum on the taps in bathroom, damp smells, dirty window sills with dead insects, dirty furniture - the building may be old but there is no excuse for the filth. Needs shut down and the whole place gutted. Definitely not worth the money
Set in a stunning location with access to the view via a small Victorian balcony! The Grand is not as grand as in it's original day, but warm and comfortable and extremely good value for money.
Everything welcoming and met our needs.
The hotel is very palacile with luxurious rooms and facilities, very stylish with great views and easy car parking close to the entrance and reception. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
