- Clean, comfy, warm, good facilities
- At Stonecross Manor Hotel we received a very warm welcome from Helen the general manager and appreciated an upgraded room. The room was very comfortable, the bed excellent and the shower was great too. We had breakfast included and it was excellent with a great choice of hot meals. We also had dinner one evening which was lovely too. All of the staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our stay. There were comments in previous reviews about noise but we found the hotel to be quiet even though there were renovations going on during the day. Thank you for a lovely stay Helen we will be back.
- Well located Nice restaurant and breakfast
Cons -
- Nothing to disclose
- Some mildew build up in the bathrooms; felt like it could have a good scrub
- Rooms are very warm at night - bit too warm.

Location, cleanliness and lovely staff. Very good breakfasts too!
Rooms are very warm at night - bit too warm.
Our room was beautifully decorated and the whole building modern and clean. Our evening meal and breakfast were both delicious. We will definitely return!
I have stayed here many times in the past and it's always been excellent up until now.
Shower started dripping a 4am making impossible to sleep. The shower was also set to very hot and not possible to regulate the temperature. This wasn't too bad until I told the receptionist on leaving. She suggested if the shower was that bad that I should have got dressed and gone downstairs to tell the night staff. When I said you expect me to get up at 4am to sort out a plumbing problem she became rude suggesting I was at fault for not reporting this. I will not be going back here again and found staff attitude towards paying customers disappointing and rude.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, good parking .
Hard mattress , shallow bath
The breakfast was amazing clean room beautifully decorated
The pool was closed
Nice building and staff friendly.
Initial room had black flakes coming out of bathtub tap so staff kindly moved us to new room. Both rooms were fairly worn and tired with scrapes on walls and unclean splashes on walls.
Staff very good and helpfull. Food very good and very clean.
Very nice helpful staff warm, as the weather at the time was very cold.a taxi was ordered for us to go to town nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast very good.
No complaints
Staff super. Gluten free aware. Lovely evening meal. Been before. Refurbishments ongoing but not a problem for us.
Too hot in rooms overnight.
Our room was basic compared to other hotels we have stayed in. The evening meal was excellent but a bit pricey.
The windows in our room had mould all around them. The room we stayed in was quite basic. We could hear other people through the walls. They were quite short staffed.... they gave us the wrong breakfast that we ordered (there was only my husband & myself dining along with one other gentleman). When we went to check out, the gentleman tried to charge us again for our stay, even though we had paid upfront the night before! We travel a lot, so compared to other places we have stayed, we felt that this was a little overpriced.I appreciate that the building itself looks fab & grand from the outside, but the rooms are dated and basic.
We have stayed here before. Good location and we had a nice meal
Beautiful furnishings. Good variety of refreshments in the room including glass bottled water. I liked the locally sourced eco soap. The bathroom was modern and clean with plenty of hot water. Excellent breakfast with a variety of options. Friendly, helpful staff.
Building work was a bit noisy during breakfast, however the hotel were very honest about the fact this was happening so it was expected and not really a problem.
I needed somewhere to stay to break a long journey. The hotel was well rated, so I booked. The lady who checked me in was very nice, and the lady who served during dinner, also equally pleasant. I wasn't interested in leisure facilities, so it didn't matter they weren't available. There was a good sized radiator which pumped out a lot of heat - nice and cosy.
This is not a 4 star hotel despite what the booking.com website says. The room I was in was very dated and badly in need of redecorating. There was no guest information folder, so I was unable to check details for room service which is apparently offered. There was also no phone in the room, which is a shame, as I did want to make a complaint about the noisy neighbours at 1am. I didn't want to use my mobile as I couldn't be certain that the noisy people had one a phone in their room and I didn't want to put the night staff at any risk by them knocking at a door. The overhead shower head was stained with mould, so I used the handheld which was quite powerful. Toilet and basin were clean, but the floor tiles had stains and stained grouting. The door frames in the room were chipped and there was areas on the walls where it had been touched up which made it look very poor indeed.I only discovered the next morning that there was a small stain, looking like old blood, on the duvet cover. This was the other side of where I slept and I hadn't noticed until I pulled the covers right back. In the wardrobe there is an old ironing board with suspect stains on it.There was a reasonable menu for dinner, but the dining room area looked like a 1970s business hotel. Mainly single occupancy. Overall I was very disappointed. Even if a room is needing attention, it always looks better if it's been properly cleaned, and this needs a deep clean. Marks on the bathroom wall could have been washed off. If it hadn't have been such a tiring drive down I'd have looked for somewhere else. I'm pondering a more formal complaint as stained covers are not acceptable.
Very nice staff Good parking Nice breakfast
Hotel under improvements lovely bedroom but damp and wet windowsills
Location great. Staff friendly. Nice dinner.
Double room on the small side. First day far too hot but once we turned off the main radiator it was ok. Difficult to fill the kettle from the basin.
Friendly staff, in a good location with easy access to bus routes. Staff were excellent and very accommodating.
Location was good, the staff were very nice, just not enough of them. Fortunately there is a very nice place to eat within a 5 minute walk.
We were informed about the building work and lack of leisure facilities however the standard of room cleanliness is one of the worst I have experienced. We were however able to change rooms and the second room was better… however why hotels scrimp on a decent TV nowadays is beyond me (these were tiny and very old) Understaffed, particularly during breakfast where we had to wait a long time and sit on a dirty table as there was 1 member of staff doing everything (not her fault, she was doing her best)
