    Pros +

    • The fire in the entrance hall
    • Our family room was lovely, very clean with a good sized bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic
    • The property was perfect for our pre Christmas getaway. Welcoming fire and fabulous Christmas decorations. We had food both in the restaurant and room service. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. We also used the pool, steam room and sauna. The staff were brilliant, very attentive. The hotel is very dog friendly too. We will definitely return and recommend to others.

    Cons -

    • I could feel the springs in the bed, so not the comfiest nights sleep
    • The restaurant meals were not bad but nothing special, especially for the price. Would recommend eating at one of the local pubs. Noise in room from the above floor is very loud but to be expected with a building of this age.

The hotel was very comfortable and a complementary breakfast was a bonus. Plenty of parking space was available and the staff was very polite and helpful. Staff was very responsive to the queries raised prior to arrival and made all efforts to make our stay comfortable. They had a sitting space with a fireplace near the reception which was the highlight of the property. Leisure activities like swimming and gym are great ways to spend time in the hotel especially during winters when days are short and you have a good amount of time in the evening. These facilities were open till late in the evening to spend quality time with family.

The room we got was towards the very end that required us to carry luggage on stairs. But it could be just that we were unlucky that we got those far off rooms. Also, it was only during check-in and check-out that we had to worry about this issue.Location was a slight drawback again as there was nothing in the proximity. So, we needed to plan about meals or else the only option was the hotel restaurant.

We stayed in Cabin 3 , quiet , spotless , lovely hot tub . Breakfast was outstanding as was the service

    8PhilipPosted on: 10-19-2025

Friendly atmosphere. Good choice of menu and quality of food in restaurant. Warm room. Excellent shower. Lovely log fire to sit by in the evenings.

Hotel is sprawled out and a bit of a maze. A little too far out from the main attractions for our liking. Swimming pool is a lot smaller than the photograph suggests. No spinner in the changing rooms for wet swim wear.

Very relaxing and peaceful stay. The hotel staff were very accommodating prior to my stay with great communication. There is plenty of free parking on site. The room was spacious with an amazing bath. The evening meal was outstanding quality and there is also a good variety at breakfast to choose from. Would recommend and would return again.

Nothing really not to like. The rooms are a little dated, but this had no effect on my stay.

The breakfast buffet was extensive, and well-prepared. The hotel oozes the charm of a country inn. The duck pond added to the ambience. It was nice to know we could have accessed the spa and gym had we wanted to. (We were exhausted from a long flight when we arrived, and got in our steps at nearby Sizergh Castle.) The proximity to this castle was the primary reason for choosing Damson Dene. The authentically constructed miniature village displayed in the hotel was delightful. There is a larger one behind the hotel that is available to tour for a small fee.

The mattress needs to be replaced. The shower is tiny, but it is an old building, so I understand.

This hotel is just supreme value for money. We had an excellent couple of nights here and loved everything about the place. We didn't expect to have access to the leisure facilities without having to pay extra but we didn't have to pay extra. Our room was excellent, spacious and comfortable. Food in their restaurant was superb with excellent service. We will certainly be back.

Can't fault anything about our stay.

    10TimPosted on: 7-4-2025

Very hospitable staff, beautiful grounds, outstanding food.

    3KevinPosted on: 7-4-2025

    The location is great

The staff were unwelcoming and rude at times. Service generally was poor. We stayed in a cabin which was unclean and had a problem with wasps. The cabins are not well equipped. Not worth the money spent on our weekend

The garden and pond are very nice. The location is good. Love the jacuzzi and the swimming pool.

    7TessaPosted on: 5-27-2025

Great location, friendly staff, cute ducks

The room smelled VERY strongly of flowery perfume. We needed to open a window to clear it

    8DavidPosted on: 5-25-2025

Friendly atmosphere, quiet and relaxing, excellent grounds.

Just distance from town and obvious activities that that go along with that

    10ShayPosted on: 5-19-2025

Nice and clean great staff and great food

We stayed 3 nights and the hotel was ideal, it's in a good location very quiet and peaceful, the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable

Our room was a wee bit compact and the pool area didn't have much options for sitting after a swim

    7OrlyaPosted on: 5-1-2025

Spacious and quiet room, on the ground floor with an exit directly to the garden and adjacent parking. Modernised bathroom with Grohe fixtures and Roca toilet, excellent water pressure and temperature regulation.

Breakfast was adequate. We also had dinner at the hotel once, it was competent but not exemplary. There are better meals at a comparable price range if you're willing to drive 5 miles. Some EV charging points would be a welcome addition but not sure if the local grid can support it, or if the hotel could make money off it.
