We stayed in a suite and the small sofa was well past it's best and extremely uncomfortable
The best place for an intimate honeymoon: food, views and service were exceptional!
The Full English Breakfast was excellent and was just the right-sized portion. The view of the Haweswater Reservoir from my top floor room were sensational.
The location was absolutely stunning. Just beautiful

The whole Hotel is like a museum to the flooded valley below, its a beautiful art deco piece of architecture with the most welcoming staff. We will definitely be back in a few months.
Breakfast excellent. Style of hotel and location all very good.
Disappointing to have no proper choice of draft beers/lagers. Not impressed with draft drink choices and enough to put me off returning in a hurry.
The staff were great. Breakfast was very nice and lots to choose from. The location was a little out of the way but it is what we were expecting. Lots of walking routes around the lake
Loved the decor, location and feel of the place. It had been done really well. Sunday roast was good too.
The staff were perfectly fine. Some just seemed a little lacklustre. . After a long journey, a welcoming smile doesn't cost much.
Beautiful scenery great location
Our room had a pretty constant sound of running water from our bathroom which kept us awake
Outstanding hidden location. Food very good. It would have been nice if the chef patron had introduced himself.
Very uncomfortable bed.
Haweswater Hotel is absolutely stunning and the vibes are impeccable. We have been before and so were very very excited to be back and our room was gorgeous.
The hotel was understaffed and it felt a bit like we were an inconvenience all the time which was a bit unsettling and it didn't quite feel like the price fitted the service we were getting. The food wasn't quite as nice as last time and I was nearly given something with an allergen in it (I have a sever Gluten Intolerance) and had told them multiple times. It was only because I am very vigilant that I didn't end up being very sick!
Location
The room was small and the heating didn't work, the staff were too busy
I stayed here once or twice over 30 years ago and as far as I can recall, I liked it well enough then. However, it's clearly been revamped recently to make the most of its Thirties heritage, and what a beautiful job they have made of it. It's a mixture of original fittings & decor with (I am fairly certain) other non-original and newer homage pieces very much in tune with the Art Deco legacy. My room (suite) was quite costly but bigger than the ground floor of my house! The lake (reservoir) is not the most spectacular from ground level, but was a constant soothing presence. All of this is before I even get started on the amazing Mark Greenaway restaurant, one of my best meals of 2025 with only a few days to go! I had not even heard of star chef Greenaway whose outpost this is - my bad! Mr Greenaway, you are clearly worthy of what I now know is your reputation.
It is remote and it can take a long time to get to or from anywhere else - not exactly a defect, more a considered choice and compromise in return for the tranquil atmosphere - and for younger or simply fitter residents, the marvellous walks especially up to the summit of High Street. There are a lot of steps both inside and outside the building which isn't ideal for less fit older customers like me, but again, that has to be accepted in view of the historic nature of the structure. I'd have preferred a shower cubicle to a bath and more difficult still, the bath has no hand holds - however I think there are better equipped rooms for my age group if booked further ahead.
Quirky, amazing location and good food
Bath taps were a little temperamental
Love the art deco decor everywhere. Staff were friendly.
Value of food could be better.
