Pros +
- It’s location
- Bed was very comfortable and slept well no noise to wake you up . Nice quiet village .staff good and helpful. Had one meal when we arrived and it was excellent . Cannot fault it at all . Definitely stay again
- A beautiful hotel right in the middle of the village. Very traditional with lovely facilities. The food was also lovely.
Cons -
- We had two rooms. One was fine. The central heating (in room 6) did not work and was really uncomfortably cold
- Radiator in the room was just Luke warm yet one on stairs was really hot . Not too much of a problem to be honest just a bit cool when we arrived
- Sadly upon arriving mid winter, all of the heating was turned off so my room was really cold. I mentioned it to the bar staff and they tried to override the boiler so the heating could come on. They said it was set to come on at 5pm when the bar opened. However the heating went off at 11pm and there was only a thin duvet and no extra blankets. It got very cold at night and I had to put towels over me to get warm. For the price of the room, breakfast was also not included or offered.

Fab location, friendly staff, good pub food, clean, comfy bed, plenty of hot water
Shower/bathroom needs some attention, nothing major, just a bit of TLC
Lovely hidden gem of a village with it's own chocolate factory. The room was clean & had everything we needed & we ate at the bar each night, good food & generous portions. Staff were lovely too. Easy access to other Lake District areas.
We messaged the property x3 via Booking.com & x2 on their email to ask about parking & didn't get any response. Parking is available outside the pub though.
Central location, good evening meals- helpful staff
Booking.com just needs to update a couple of details Checking in from 5 in the winterNo breakfasts in the winter
Loike the village.
Room cold ,no heating in the morning, bathroom dirty, shower cubicle dirty. no staff on site in the morning to complete about heating. Sent a complaint by email reply come and stay again ,no thankyou won't be back.
The fire in the lounge bar was nice.
The heating in my room wasn't working and it was very cold. It snowed overnight ! with no heating. I told the staff and no effort was made to fix the heating or keep me informed. I was told that the manager was out drinking with mates. Customer service was very poor.
Friendly staff.Good food.Great value.
We really enjoyed our stay, if breakfast was available it'd be perfect.
Great venue and really friendly staff. Really tasty food with some great live entertainment.
Staff very friendly, bed really comfortableFood brilliant, fantastic sunday roast and a great real ale
Wonderful staff, we phoned ahead to ask if early check in was available as we had got our timings wrong. The gentleman on the phone was extremely helpful and catered to our needs. On check in we were greeted by a lovely young man who couldn't have been more helpful. The room was wonderful, very spacious and very clean. Everyone was very friendly and we were able to borrow a corkscrew and a couple of wine glasses from the bar.
Everything worked well for us, the only thing I could say is if you have limited mobility or aren't travelling by car this probably isn't the place for you. However if you want to get 'off the beaten track' this place is perfect.
Clean spacious room, comfortable bed,...
Really nice and renovated, staff were very friendly, room was lovely and clean with excellent shower! There’s also events held regularly it seems and enjoyed the live music that was happening when we were there.
The staff were great and the chef very exceptional with great cousine as well as choice
The bathroom taps were dripping and required a lot of power to tighten them. The mattresses were extremely soft and didn't provide very comfortable sleep
This was a fabulous pub/hotel. All staff were warm and welcoming and food was fantastic - fully recommend their pizzas and sunday lunchAt £30 a night for their winter special you cannot go wrong.Local area is outstandingly beautiful.
The amazing warm welcome, how comfortable the room was and how good the food was. Absolutely fabulous and would book over and over again
There was nothing not to like
Great bar and restaurant with friendly staff. Bedroom comfortable. Lovely village and surrounding area. Excellent value for money.
We arrived early before the hotel was open and they let us into our room. The drink and food was good, both dinner and breakfast. The location was good for the C2C.
We were surprised although pleasantly that we had breakfast
Great welcome and facilities . A sound nights sleep and lovely breakfast
