About
The Crown and Miter Hotel is located in the center of Carlisle city center, with shops and local historic attraction such as Carlisle Cathedral and Castle just 2 minutes' walk from the hotel. The Crown and Miter retains its Edwardian-style traits throughout the property, including the rooms. The on site restaurant has a Table d’Hote Menu and is open from 6pm to 9pm. The hotel also has its own Miter Bar, which serves drinks as well as wholesome dishes and snacks from 12noon to 9.30pm. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. The hotel has a limited free car park attached to the rear of the building, which is accessible via a different postcode to the hotels main address. Carlisle Train station is 7 minutes' walk from the Crown & Miter.

Pros +
- We often stay here. We particularly enjoy its traditional old world architecture with its high ceilings, drapes, lavish staircases and huge but comfortable public spaces. It is lushly carpeted throughout and has a reasonable sized car park at the rear. It's location is central and if not eating at the hotel there are many good restaurants nearby. The room was warm and comfortable with no noise permeating from the streets. Which were quiet anyway.
- Good value for money clean and the staff were brilliant on a very busy night the boxing was on and you wouldn't realize
- Comfy rooms nice bar and swimming pool a bonus
Cons -
- Hearings on full blast
- shortage of electric plugs, in room.
- The swimming pool was a nice touch but the changing rooms were very poor (the toilet door was so warped it wouldn't shut) the shower wasn't exactly private and the toilet was filthy. Would stay here again if visiting Carlise, but would give the pool a miss.

Facilities were good, nice bar and breakfast area, staff excellent Evening meal slso good in bar.
shortage of electric plugs, in room.
Fantastic location in the heart of the town, staff were nice. Its an old building, beautiful old staircase but was also great that it had a lift as we were on the 3rd floor. Room was a little dated but the bed was comfortable. We very very happy that we had a walk in shower. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel as there's plenty of places around (dint bother with Franco's pizzeria across the road).

Bedrooms and bathrooms were cleanBed was comfortableStaff were very helpful
Breakfast room was tired and dirty(Crockery and table cloths were clean though)
Good central location.
The hotel is very tired and needs to be brought up to modern standards in terms of decor and furnishings.
Location
No space in the car park when I paid a good price for my room. And stay regular

Nice staff…great location and a Grande building
The pool and spa were lovely the breakfast was amazing the rooms were comfortable dark and quiet
Lots of stairs and slow lift. Very minor
Location, cleanliness, modern room, facilities.
It's quite a journey to get to the hotel car park if you pull up outside the main entrance, but it's not too inconvenient.
Location, room felt recently updated, pool facilities, brand new bed
Bed was just a double despite size of room
Room was completely clean and tidy big bed and spacious
We stayed in the newly renovated building separate from the main hotel, and the room itself was warm with very comfortable beds. The location was also a strong point, being less than a 10-minute walk from the train station, which made getting around very convenient. When I ordered scrambled eggs on toast instead of using the buffet, they were freshly cooked and much better quality than the buffet offering.
I found the cooked buffet breakfast disappointing: the hash browns were pale and dried out, the mushrooms lacked flavour, and the baked beans appeared to have been contaminated with bacon, which was off-putting as a vegetarian. The swimming pool area was also far below expectations compared with the online photos — it looked grubby and mouldy, the water was cloudy, and the jacuzzi had a musty smell. We didn’t stay long, and with no one else using it, it’s easy to see why guests might not return after one visit.
