- This is my 3rd year staying in this hotel. We love this hotel; it has a soul. The team is greatEveryone tries to help.Amazing rooms beds and pillows Special thanks to Sarah; she is amazing. She is a great person. And Becky.
- Great location for what I needed. Nice to have EV charging on site also.
- The staff were really very helpful, polite and accommodating. They were having a challenging night with a function that was going on during the evening along with a technical issue with the fire alarm.
Cons -
- Bar was very small and it took an eternity to get a drink.
- Whilst we were notified there was a function going on during the evening of my stay the sound permeated throughout the whole building and the room I was staying in was vibrating with the music, the alternative rooms that were offered were much the same. Along with the issue with the fire alarm going off every few minutes I wasn't able to stay as it was unbearably loud in the room.

Without a doubt the most friendly and helpful staff i have ever encountered at a hotel. If you are looking at a city break in Norwich, I highly recommend The Maids head. It's right in the middle of the city next to the beautiful Cathedral and a stone's throw from the shops, bars and restaurants. On a last note - I travel as part of my job and tend to rate my stay at a hotel on the quality of the shower...I cannot obviously rate the entire hotel but room 404 has my first 10/10
Absolutely nothing
Large clean rooms if basic. Historic building. Excellent staff and perfect location —could walk easily anywhere in town and close by some very good restaurants. Its restaurant is very nice too.
Not very fancy but basic facilities.
Great location. Breakfast was awesome! It was the best buffet on the trip. My wife got sick and we had to stay an extra night. The staff helped us out and were very accomidating.
Everything was good except my wife got sick.
Loved this type of hotel; old, family run, hickledee-pickledee layout, and old and new features combined. All in all, a charming hotel. The reception was great. Put us on the right foot straightaway. The bedroom was great; we had one of the basic ones and it was very comfortable, well laid-out. The breakfasts were very good; they set a standard. And the staff, were excellent, a credit to the hotel and themselves.
Had to pay for parking at the hotel which was a downside of sorts. Thought we were paying enough for the room to get the parking thrown in for free. But hey, you can't have everything. However, if you have an EV you can charge your vehicle for £5 extra which is very good value. If your EV has a big battery, this is a winner by far.
All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a great location, really central. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant and all were fabulous.
Everything was wonderful.
Liked the place front desk needs to be a little better. Price a little bit pricey for the quality of the room

Excellent location. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.Food was very good and plenty of choice at breakfastVery clean and a comfortable bed
Room very nice - Great location - Top staff
Lovely hotel with characterThe food in the restaurant was very good. Comfortable bed.
The staff were super-friendly and helpful - especially the Reception Desk Manager - Sarah who helped us with bike storage during our stay. The hotel is clean and with large comfortable rooms, and it had a great bar stocked with local beer and gin! The included breakfast was excellent with a superb buffet and also a la carte should you want it. Location is at the heart of the historic area next to the cathedral and many pubs.
Location and cleanliness
Nothing , however the ambiance was lacking. Perhaps some soft music in the sitting areas and better lighting and real plants.
Central location. Maids Head history, friendly staffs, room with bath tub for my daughter, ... breakfast,...restaurant ,... clean room. many amenity even though we may not needed. Thank you
No negative.
Characterful old building in a wonderful location adjacent to the cathedral. Short walk to railway station and city attractions. Very welcoming staff. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Very good buffet breakfast, with additional items to order. Ideal for solo traveler/short stay.
The Hotel location was excellent, 30 yds from the entrance to the Cathedral grounds. It had it's own car park and we could reserve a space. There was a lift to all floors but the Reception floor and access to Restaurant and Car Park was on different levels with many small sets of steps. Awkward for suitcases and the elderly. We liked the appearance and atmosphere of the Hotel. Our Executive Double room was very spacious.
Our room overlooked the car park so we were woken by the Bin Men and deliveries both mornings. The Bar was very shabby but popular. The service in the Restaurant was patchy, lack of information on Gluten Free items, my wife had soup and had to ask for a spoon. One waiter was positively miserable. The furniture in the room was quite shabby and not executive, especially the wardrobe. Very poor quality and badly scratched and worn. The worst things were the dripping shower head, the positively lethal shower tray with tiny shower mat and the inside of the En Suite door. The hinges and around them was black, the floor strip was repaired with brown tape and the toilet roll holder was hanging by a thread. Finally, the mismatched prices for the Sunday and Monday nights seemed hard to justify.
I loved the soap.
The porter upon leaving the hotel needs a cart because she could carry only one suitcase and we carried the rest.
location, very good restaurant, ease of parking
everything we needed!
Location was very good, very near cathedral and walking distance to the many quaint streets. Breakfast was good. The hotel was very nice, much better than we expected. Our room was good.
