Bastion Hotel Apeldoorn Het Loo

Charming & friendly hotel for a good value. 5 min walk to beautiful Palace. We liked it enough to extend our stay an extra night which they easily accommodated.

I stayed at Bastion Hotel Apeldoorn Het Loo on August 26–27. While other stays were wonderful, this one was deeply disappointing. The room assigned on the fourth floor had a broken lamp, which I reported immediately. Despite promises from staff, no solution was provided, and I was left to work in a half-dark room. I followed up with a respectful email, but received no reply—only a jokey message about “kopjes hunting,” which felt dismissive and disrespectful. As a traveller of colour with African ethnic background, I felt unseen and unheard. I share this not out of anger, but with clarity and care, so that others may be treated with the dignity they deserve. Silence is a choice. I choose to speak.

The location is good

I bookt for a king bed, and i ask about it the first night and let them know is very not confortable

More staff and ice to be available. It was difficult to get ice.

Clean and close to Palais.

I forgot medication in the room refrigerator. I called the property twice about it. Both times they said they would look for it and call me back. No one ever called and so I have lost medication that was very costly. Plus my partner kept hitting the light switches on the bed while sleeping which was annoying. :-)

Great location right by Paleis het loo, very convenient with a toddler. The rooms were spacious and it was easily accessible with public transport. Beds were comfortable.

It happened a few times during our stay that there was nobody at the desk (for a long time) during times you would expect staff to be present. Breakfast was oke.

I greatly enjoyed my stay here, but the best part has to be the location. There are many attractions nearby and it's easy to get to from the Apeldoorn train station. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was excellent as well. I also stayed at a Bastion Hotel in Amsterdam during this trip and it was nowhere near as good as the one at Het Loo!

Nice welcome. Smooth check-in process. Clean comfortable room. Constant attention of the cleaning department personnel. Nice quiet place. Perfect central location. Room is well equipped. Everything working as expected.

The fridge can be a little bit bigger.

The smell at the bathroom is really bad.We have got two pillows only too thin, asked for more and they don't have anymore :/ was not comfortable night at all

It is an old hotel which seems to be a bit outdated. The staff tried to be friendly. However, my impression is: they haven't been very welcoming and I doubt if they had walked the extra mile. The breakfast was average and only provided very few options for people who have food intolerances. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

There was strong smell of perfume left from previous traveler that couldn't be aired out.

Location is great, walking distance to palace and 20 min walking into town (it’s a nice walk along pretty buildings) Room was big and clean, very basic though. Can’t judge the restaurant, we opted to have breakfast elsewhere. Parking was plenty and easy.

General areas are a bit shabby. Dirty hallways that smell bad. Our room was fine but imagine if you are on ground floor the smell could get into the room. Not pleasant.
