Top Tips
- Book Boalsburg hotel rooms 3-6 months ahead for Penn State home football games and other high-traffic university events; rates can rise by 50-100% and rooms may sell out quickly. Set a rate alert for your preferred dates to track price changes.
- Expand your options by searching hotels in nearby State College, just a 5-10 minute drive from Boalsburg. State College offers a wider range of national hotel brands and amenities, often at more competitive rates compared to the limited inventory in Boalsburg.
- Hotel prices in the Boalsburg and State College region are typically 15-25% higher during the Penn State academic year (September-May) due to steady demand from the university community. For the best value, compare prices on weekdays versus weekends and check for available loyalty member rates.
- Ask your hotel to confirm in-room Wi-Fi download speeds if you require reliable connectivity; 25 Mbps or faster is recommended for video calls and remote work. Newer hotels and top chains usually publish these details, but signal strength may vary in older buildings.
- Check with your hotel about event-related surcharges, as smaller independent inns near Penn State may apply dynamic pricing for university events. Larger hotel chains usually display all mandatory fees at booking, but always review your reservation summary.
- Expect limited public transportation in Boalsburg and plan on using a personal vehicle. Many hotels in State College offer free parking or shuttle service; confirm details when booking, especially if you need accessible parking or step-free shuttle access.
- Tap water throughout Boalsburg and Centre County is generally safe to drink, meeting all state quality standards. Hotel restaurants and guest rooms typically offer filtered water as well; ask if you have dietary or taste preferences.
