About

Located in Portonovo on the Conero Riviera, Fortino Napoleonico is a former military fortress just 16 feet from the Adriatic Sea and 7 mi from Ancona. The sea-view garden features a children's playground and a sun terrace. Wi-Fi is free. Rooms are air-conditioned and come with wood floors, an LCD TV, and a window facing the internal court. During summer rates include 2 sun loungers for use in the private garden. You can book massages and beauty treatments which are available in a dedicated area of the garden. Fortino Napoleonico's famous restaurant serves Italian cuisine and specialties from the Marche region. Meals are served on the panoramic terrace, weather permitting. Due to private events taking place at the property, sometimes there is live music until 00:30. Parking is free. During summer, the bus stop to Ancona stops just 984 feet from the hotel. Amici del Conero Golf Club is 8.1 mi away. You can drive to the hamlets of Sirolo and Numana in about 10 minutes.

    Pros +

    • If you want a special place to stay that you will always remember, stay here - its special. Choice of pool or beach, great restaurant and privacy - loved it (on our second time here!).
    • Amazing building in an extraordinary & beautiful location above the sea with fantastic restaurants in walking distance. All the staff were friendly, welcoming & first class!
    • The location of the hotel was perfect and the rooms and room service very good also. The hotel is secluded so you have to travel to a nearby town for groceries or to eat out. You certainly can’t eat in the hotel. Sadly, it was just dreadful. There isn’t a bar. We asked for a drink to be told there isn’t one. There isn’t a lounge area to sit - just your room. This really did spoil the experience along with the lack of breakfast - there was bacon available on only one day and the so called scrambled eggs were kept behind a bar area and they were like watery and left is heaving - they were inedible and made me heave! Just awful. Everything else was stale and you had to fight to even get a cup go coffee.

    Cons -

    • Literally the only negative thing we could think of is to suggest a stronger extractor fan in the bathroom which hit a bit steamed up
    • The menu was all fish based. No meat dishes at all..The breakfast was not as good as I have had in similar priced places. For example, you had to ask for milk, non on display for breakfast.Nevertheless it was a nice breakfast, just limited choice.
    • Nothing to declare

Spent 325 euro for one night, one bottle of water for 2 people, an unprofessional way of doing business, I was very disappointed, would not recommend these hotell at all.

The venue is simply amazing, and has a wonderful view of the majestic sea.

The twin bed had separate mattresses; it is more comfortable to have a single king size mattress.

    10CaioPosted on: 9-11-2024

Incredible breakfast, very friendly staff, walking distance to many restaurants. Very easy access to the ocean, we loved having the sun chairs to read listening to the waves. The pool is also incredible.

Lunch food wasn’t the best. So we opted to have dinner elsewhere. The beach is not private, you do see the public coming and going often.

The property was quite unique and not your typical hotel. Incredible views of the sea and a perfect lunch / dinner spot overlooking the Adriatic. The staff were brilliant, especially the lady at reception, Marika who was super helpful. You don’t need a car to get to the hotel, we took a taxi from the airport and reception arranged taxis if we needed to venture out. Would recommend heading along the coast if you have time to Sirolo and Numana for a day trip. Would definitely come back here.

    Nothing to dislike, brilliant place

    10AdrianPosted on: 6-20-2024

Absolutely everything was amazing, from the beautifully appointed rooms, wonderful sea views with access directly down to the shore and very attentive staff. Sita in the bar was exceptional and made the most delicious mojitos we had in two weeks (and we tried a lot!!) She made our first afternoon so much fun.

Beautiful location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cuisine was excellent and restaurant staff was friendly.

    9WillPosted on: 5-31-2024

The property is beautiful and still retains many of its original features as a sea defence fortification. The views across to the Ancona coastline are wonderful and not to be missed as the sun begins to set. Also, don’t miss the opportunity to eat in the beautifully dining hall while enjoying someone caress the grand piano.

We had a slight issue with the air conditioning but it was quickly resolved. There really isn’t anything to dislike here.

This property has an interesting history and a fabulous location. The hotel, restaurant and grounds are well-maintained. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed and the beds are comfortable. The shower was large and there was plenty of hot water and water pressure. The patio is a lovely place to sip coffee in the morning or an aperitivo in the afternoon. The grounds are peaceful. There’s a lovely beach nearby.

The location was amazing, the building an absolute treasure, and the outside facilities could not be faulted. Unfortunately we were visiting in November so could not enjoy the pool and gardens fully. The restaurant in the winter is inside the fort which was quite a building. Breakfast was also held here. A fully stocked breakfast with lovely products, where you could at least get something other than fish!

It was a FISH RESTAURANT! Nowhere does it say this on the site. I mean everything came out of the sea. Yes, my husband loved it, but there was nothing on the menu for me.
