Location is spectacular with views to the glacier and high peaks at the end of the valley. It was easy to get to and staff were very welcoming. Food was excellent - local products thoughtfully presented in tasty dishes. It is easy to get onto hiking trails from the hotel.
Lighting in the room was very dim and we were barely able to read at night. It would have been helpful if the hotel had maps showing nearby hiking trails. Reception told us that this year's summer map had not yet arrived (we were there at the very beginning of June). Even the Office du Tourisme in Evolène, the nearest office, did not have a very helpful map.
The overall hotel is great
The room was quite small and the bathroom old fashioned but the view was spectacular
Felt transported back in the hey days of Alpine travel in the early 20th century - like how the location has kept that experience. People working here were all very helpful and cheerful which made the stay all the more pleasent.
Just beware that this isn't a 5 star 21st century hotel and you're fine. Nothing to dislike.
Very good location, ski in, ski out (with a little bit of up hill walking). Hotel was very rustic, but charming. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good, and beautiful views of the mountains.
Side lights in the bedroom were a bit temperamental, and only 1 spare power socket.
Excellent breakfast - best to get there early (0730) to make the most of it
Room was a little small and a bit noisy (had to tell some teenagers to calm down, which they did)
Hi we are all the way from New Zealand, I love this hotel so much. Very cosy. I love that they have a larger space where children can hangout . Breakfast is very good with many options. Reception staff are very kind and accommodating, the outside views are also outstanding! . I would love to come back to Switzerland and stay here again!
Location, decor, service
Staff are all friendly. Foods, in particular the cerf steak are extremely delicious using local materials. The views and surrounding wonderful. There was an old piano and I enjoyed playing it with other guests. In the evening, there was a small concert among the guests!
Garden, location, personnel, forests all around. Beautiful.
Very charmng historic hotel.
Some rooms are too small and need refurbishing
Genuine Place with extremely friendly staff . Beautiful architecture free of modern features as television in the rooms , but with respect for the history of the old hotel . I loved it .
Breathtaking views, beautiful property, elegant hotel in the woods. The staff were exceptional, friendly, accommodating and absolute lovely human beings.
The only “flaw” was the fluctuating water temperature during the shower. Given the historical nature of the facility, that is perhaps part of the experience.
They understand hikers, and are willing to put out breakfast at 6:30AM instead of 7:30AM.
The building is very old and dark, and the rooms very small.
This hotel was incredible. The location is magical, the hotel is historic and charming, and the staff especially Julia was so helpful and kind.
Great setting. Interesting building. Nice grounds.
Rooms and place generally are rundown. Food was ok. Breakfast seemed to have a single overworked staff person. Water for eggs wasn't hot even a full hour after breakfast service had started.
The staff is super friendly. The location is just at the bottom of the mountains we need to pass on the Haute Route. Great food and fantastic views of the mountains. Bed is super comfortable.
What a great old lady this place is. It is exactly what it sets out to be, a wonderful relic of a time gone by, very elegant and very welcoming
Rooms are pretty basic, but i dont think the hotel pretends to be anything beyond that
