The lounge is very nice, there is free coffee and tea. The view of the lake from the building is beautiful. The shared bathrooms are cleaned daily.
The building is extremely noisy. You can hear every step and every movement above you. Earplugs were provided, but you still had the feeling that people were standing next to you jumping in the room. The service at check-in and breakfast was unfriendly and seemed bored
We stayed at the older hytta not the fjellstua. Wonderfull panoramic views from the living room
We stayed in the summer and the rooms got super hot…The rooms need som sort of ventilation… opening the windows let in a swarm of mosquitoes that kept us up all night…
This is the closest location to Preikestolen and right at the trailhead. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are small but updated and clean. We ate dinner at the restaurant, and it was quite good. Buffet breakfast the next morning was tasty. Very friendly staff.
Parking is a bit far away. There should be designated parking for hotel guests that are close to the hotel. You park in the same parking lot as everyone else wanting to hike the trail. Luckily, we arrived late and were able to find a spot.
One of my favorite places. I try to visit every year. This property overlooks the lake. It is directly at the base camp for the Preikestolen hike. Property has a nice restaurant and great employees. You can also rent paddle boards, time at the sauna on the lake and hike hike hike. Great place.
Great breakfast, Pulpit Rock trail head is right here, free parking, good value
teenage service team, don't know much. We stayed at Economy Quadruple Room with Shared Bathroom, room is small, and worn out.
Very quiet and calm. Very clean. Enjoyed our hike. The waffle dessert is amazing - order it!
Free coffee for guests would be great! ?
The location and scenery. The main hotel facilities were delightful.
They put me in a dorm room with a common bath. I don’t travel that way Ever! It was probably a mistake on my part buy when I requested a room in the main building they would not accommodate. Very noisy in the room . The first sign of trouble was the earplugs on the bed,(which I had to make).
Location is unbeatable, the view from the restaurant is breathtaking ? arrive from a long walk and get into the cozy lobby with the fireplace is priceless.
The lay out of the bedroom for 5 people it’s it weird., with an odd mezzanine too difficult to reach and stay. The bath room also was oddly arranged, despite the plenty of space they did some close to an airplane bathroom.
I liked that the check-in/check-out process is online, you can check in yourself. I liked the breakfast at the hotel. And the location, there is simply no place closer to Prekistullnu, and not only to it, there are several hiking trails, you can’t go around everything in one day, so it’s better to book a room for several days
I'll be banal, but price-quality. I understand that I'm in Norway, but I paid more than 200 dollars for a small room, for less than a day for a room covered with plywood. This is the main minus for me, everything else is great
View was wonderful, but i didn't expect nothing less on such nice location! Breakfast was very nice, but it have still place to become better. My companions liked contactless check in and out
Coffee machine was broken, and second was empty so that was a bit frustrating. It was looking like they don't have enough stuff to fix everything fast so we needed to wait. And i didn't like bathroom doors, how they cant close
The entire value is in the location. You're right there at the base and the parking is included. Breakfast buffet is nice and opens early.
You have to make your own beds upon arrival. (I wouldn't mind this if the price reflected this type of thing (paid 161 euro for one night). When arriving tired, it's not the kind of thing you look forward to doing. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Things like that happened, but how it was handled was terrible.
The overall experience was very enjoyable and comfortable. I did have to pay for a coffee due to the early hour we began our hike. A bit annoying to only be offered free coffee at breakfast. However, I would gladly return, even if I had to pay for all coffee. The place is beautiful and perfectly located. Just visit and surly you will agree.
Coffee available for guests. The room rates justify a cup of coffee.
If you're looking to hike Preikelstolen then this is no doubt the best place to stay. Getting free access to the main car park means you can just wake up and hike. The building is great and has a lovely view over the water which is a nice way to start your day when having breakfast. The staff are kind and super helpful. The breakfast is also quite nice - as is the food if you were to have lunch or dinner.
The rooms are quite small and compact with minimal storage, but this was expected from the booking - don't be bringing massive suitcases and expect to not have to walk around them. The soundproofing could be improved - being next to the social area meant if people were chatting late at night then it would be tricky to sleep. The bathroom also had a weird sewer-like smell coming from it in the morning, so perhaps the pipes need a looking at.
Wonderful hotel!! Right @ base of Pulpit Rock trail. Beautiful natural wood inside with a great restaurant. The food was all made to order, lovely lady cooking and the veal was tasty. Breakfast was great too! Our son traveled w us and hiking here was on my Bucket list. He treated me for my 70th birthday. So get out there!! I made it to Pulpit Rock after having 2 knee replacements. You can do it and BaseCamp is a phenomenal place to stay!!
Likes everything!!
Small room, but lovely spacious communal living room with tea and coffee facilities. Clean room and shared showers. Possibilty for breakfast/lunch/dinner in the adjacent hotel.
I missed a (shared) fridge to keep some groceries cold.
The location is great especially if you are planning on during pulpit rock hike. The place has an restaurant which is great. The place has a positive vibe
The place is for campers/hikers for a one night stay. The place is not sound proof so you can hear anyone walking upstairs. Our room's bathroom flush didn't work, so they moved us to first floor. The hotel doesn't have elevator so you need to take your luggage on your own, there is no assistance provided. The hotel itself sits on a higher ground and can be reached via stairs so you need to lift your luggage from the car to the hotel and then also within the hotel. If it is raining it makes it all the more difficult
Beautiful setting
No elevator. Restaurant is over priced.
