The area is nice near the Cliff Walk. (although one building is on a busy street). The room had a sitting area. Rooftop hot tub and fire was nice but I had to walk across a parking lot to another building.
Awesome location, esp because you can avoid the chaotic and expensive beach parking. Super nice staff, very clean. I¿d stay here again!

This is a quaint hotel in an excellent location in Newport. The hotel felt like you stepped back in time but we enjoyed that about it. If you want super modern, this is not the place for you. The breakfast and tea time were excellent.
Breakfast was great. The location was walking distance from Gansett Cruises (great tour) and the room was quaint and comfortable. There is also a rooftop patio. You have to climb to the 4th floor to access it.

Nothing!Did not stay at the Wyndham due to all the reasons checked. I was placed in the annex building which had NO PARKING and would have to travel back & forth to main building for any amenities which was impossible with toting two children and luggage.
I love the location the most you can see the water and Newport bridge

Good location for easy exploring on foot. Host is genial and helpful. The inn is clean, comfortable and inviting.
This was a great B&B experience. Even after reading reviews online, not always sure what to expected. My biggest thing is cleaningless and I was completely satisfied on that side. It's an older house, very well kept and super charming. Great location too!
the area, the house was decorated well and was cozy, the breakfast was well-prepared

Learn about the top neighbourhoods of Middletown
Let your imagination drift to colonial times as you wander along the charming cobblestone streets and spectacular mansions located at this seaside locale on Aquidneck Island, which expands to Goat Island, a peaceful spot in Narragansett Bay. Once a thriving 18th-century commercial wharf, today's Bowen's Wharf boasts shops, fresh seafood eateries, art galleries, frequent festivals and harbor cruises amid quarry quays and brick walks, making it one of Newport's most celebrated spots. Visitors can also learn about Newport's past at the Museum of Newport History.
Set about 10 minutes east of Newport and its mansions, this area borders the Naval Station Newport and puts visitors within a short drive of nearby Salve Regina University. Newport State Airport sits at the northern end of this area, while Aquidneck Corporate Park sits at its southern end, making this a convenient spot for business travelers.

Top Tips
- Book 60-90 days ahead for July-August weekends, especially around annual events like Newport Jazz Festival, to avoid rate increases of 25-40% during peak summer and Newport festival dates.
- Save $15 to $40 USD per day on parking by staying in Middletown hotels, which often offer free onsite parking, as central Newport hotels typically charge $15 to $40 USD per day for parking. Consider local public transit or shuttle options from Middletown to Newport for added convenience.
- Take RIPTA public transit into Newport; a single-ride fare costs $2.00 USD (card/app or cash), saving parking fees and travel time, with buses often arriving within 15-25 minutes. Most buses offer low-floor entry and ramp access for accessibility.
- Choose chain hotels in Middletown, such as Hampton Inn & Suites, for complimentary breakfast and free parking, which can reduce daily out-of-pocket food and parking costs by $15 to $60 USD. Confirm dietary accommodations and allergen information for complimentary breakfasts at booking.
- Plan for limited late-night food and public transit options outside Newport. Middletown's commercial corridor has supermarkets and restaurants, but choices diminish after 10-11 p.m. Confirm store or restaurant hours in advance, especially on weekends or holidays.
- Arrive before 9:00 a.m. for public parking lots at Sachuest (Second Beach) on warm weekend mornings in peak season, as lots typically fill early. Check for accessible parking spaces if required.
- Request ground-floor or ADA-compliant rooms at booking for smaller inns and B&Bs on Aquidneck Island, as many are 2-3 story Victorian structures without elevators. ADA-compliant rooms in the U.S. typically include step-free entry and accessible bathroom features.
- Expect no bridge tolls when driving onto Aquidneck Island (Middletown/Newport). Plan extra time for summer weekend traffic and event parking, and consider checking local traffic apps or asking your hotel concierge for real-time updates during major events.
- Factor in an additional 13% state and local tax on room rates, plus possible $15 to $25 USD nightly resort fees at some beachfront hotels, budgeting an extra 15-25% to avoid surprises. Confirm the total price (including taxes and fees) before completing your booking.
- Prioritize hotels near Second Beach for quieter stays with family-oriented amenities such as pools or complimentary kids' breakfasts. Areas near Naval Station Newport may experience aircraft noise until midnight.
- Verify Wi-Fi speeds for remote work; many hotels provide 50-100 Mbps, but coastal storms can cause outages and uptime may drop 10-15% during hurricane season (August-October). Ask hotels about backup power options or alternate workspaces if reliable connectivity is critical.
- Specify step-free access needs during booking, as about 60% of Middletown hotels have elevators or ramps, while older properties near historic areas may require 2-5 days' notice for adaptations. If booking close to your arrival date, contact the property directly to confirm arrangements.
