Hotel Gabriel y Galán

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable clean room with excellent bathroom and powerful shower. Quiet room at the back. Very central but not in the thick of the tourist zone. Good neighbourhood bars.

Only a small plastic cup for drinking water. V minor complaint!

Staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was easy to access and close to practically everything. It is in between the two main train stations and a 5 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. Lots of restaurants nearby but basically a residential area. The rooms were clean and well-furnished, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great!

The only thing is that the room is super tiny.(single room) Too small to get the good impression, honestly. The window cannot be opened.

Outstanding location close to city center and 15 min walk from train station. Newly renovated interior and bathroom. Friendly staff!

No overnight hotel staff but you do get key card access.

The place was very clean and in a good location for shopping, eating, partying, and touristing (being a tourist).

The shower is very small, and when I first turned on the shower, the water blew the shower curtain out of the top. I ended up with a lot of water on the floor. However, this is just a small issue. I will definitely return to this hotel.

This place is NOT a Hotel, it´s a cheap old "hostal" with very small sized rooms. Cleaning staff were extremely disrespectful and rude. Expect to be treated with no dignity at all, and its all automated and nobody cares. There is not even a receptionist or wifi details when you arrive and the elevator is out of order. Terrible.

This is a great budget hotel. It's a 1 star place and offers comfort at a very good price. The location is excellent.

Nice sized solo room with a good shower

There was an automatic check in which didn't work - and so the check in is done manually when the receptionist starts at 2pm. It was not possible to drop off luggage early.

It was a perfect stop over for a night. Great location, clean, nice staff. Easy check in and check out.

Bed was comfy, friendly staff, excellent central location close to transport links

It wasn't spotless, but it was fine, some of the furniture looked a little bit run down. Led lights did not work.

It was close to the historic centre so I didn't have far to walk.

The room needed a deep clean. It wasn't filthy but it could have been cleaner.

Excellent budget hotel. Clean and comfortable, well within walking distance of old town. Carrefour Express 1min walk away.

I really don't like the automatic check in....not much fun fumbling about on the street for passport, credit card etc. Not very classy.A plug for bath/sink would have been nice.

modern building, modern room with nice en suite, comfortable, firmish bed.

the room had a window door that opened onto a light well overlooked by many floors of windows of offices, apartments, hotel rooms. some had a direct line of sight into my room. This door could not be locked. Not a problem per se as there was no apparent access to the light well other than thru my room. The curtains were transparent at night and offered no privacy when the room light was on.

There was nothing that went well on this stay.

This stay went about as poorly as it could go. I got into my room very late, as I took the late bus from Portugal - it was about 4:30am. When I walked into my room, I was hit with the strong stench of cigarette smoke. I got ready for bed and realized the shower head was partially broken. Then, before getting into bed, I checked and realized that the door to a corridor that other guests had access to would not close properly or lock. I did not feel safe in this room, but went to sleep as it was late. I got up the next day and decided I would wait for the receptionist to arrive (a receptionist is only there from 2pm-8pm) and switch rooms. It turns out that the receptionist does not work on Mondays, but the phone is available 24 hours per day. This was not communicated clearly to me, a foreign traveler. This experience was worsened by loud music blaring from a nearby room along with a strong smell of marijuana wafting through the halls. Because of all of this and especially the broken lock on my door, and with no apparent way to switch rooms, I booked another hotel and did not finish my stay here. The worst part of this whole experience was my attempt to communicate with the hotel about a possible refund for my nights that I did not stay there, since they were the ones who compromised my safety. The hotel staff delayed their response for weeks and would not give me a clear answer; they insisted they were "waiting for an answer from the boss." When I pressured them to simply give me a clear answer, they ignored me for over a week until I messaged Booking.com Customer Service. They then proceeded to tell me that there would be no refund. The poor communication and terrible customer service of the hotel was appalling, and I would recommend that travelers avoid this hotel. There are other options in the area that are much better.

nice hotel, all you need is here and price is reasonable. Rooms was very clean

1. In one of rooms there was a smell from ventilation, but it disappeared in few hours2. There was a problem with payment, but was resolved fast (while still I've lost 6euro on bank comissions)

The room was inexpensive. It had what I needed. The bathroom had warm water.

The beds were not very comfortable. The room had a nasty little stench; it smelled a bit like body odor mixed with cigarette smoke. The staff were not kind. I was sitting in the lobby at one point and one of the workers asked multiple times to see my key card and stared me down; eventually I felt uncomfortable enough that I left the lobby. Some corners of the room were not clean - it seems like the staff hastily wiped down the main areas of the room and ignored the parts that were peripheral.
