Pros +
- Unbeatable location (walkable to temple), quiet, and free transport was arranged for a second trip to the temple and to the market. They provided water as well and the dinner was pretty good (better than most I had eaten in Egypt).
- The location is good, it is about a five to ten-minute walk to Abu Simbel Temples.
- About a 15 minute walk to Abu Simbel Temple site. Also nice views from the restaurant second level.
Cons -
- Breakfast left much to be desired. A proper bed sheet rather than blanket would be better.
- Informed that the credit machine was not working and had to pay in cash, lucky I had enough Egyptian Pounds with me to do so. Arranging the shuttle to the airport was problematic. Lack of communication. Higher cost of dinner and water compared to tow
- There are some pretty aggressive dogs that roam the area, so cross the street if you see them ahead.

We loved this place for Abu Simbel overnight. Walked to Abu Simbel for light show and morning visit. Big room; authentic family-run; nice breakfast
We enjoyed hospitality at its best from Mohammed and his team. We were helped with rides from and to the airport, as well as tickets for the sound and light show, restaurant recommendations, and tuktuk rides any time we wanted one, including a quick joyride through the town of Abu Simbel, which was fun and fascinating (and felt safe.) The rooms are simple, but perfectly fine for a night or two while visiting Abu Simbel. Rooftop patio was a fantastic spot to recap the days adventures. Walking distance from the temple, or Mohammed will send you in a tuktuk :)
The staff was very warm and welcoming. Always wanting to accommodate. It’s a modest area as well as this hotel, but an extremely fair price. Very short walk to the famous temples. The restaurant was also enjoyable. I would not hesitate to go back. Thank you, Mohammed, and the rest of the staff.

Everyone at Tuya Hotel made us feel welcome. Muhammad provided directions for the free shuttle from the airport and greeted us warmly when we arrived. Our bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night. As most people mention, the hotel is within easy walking distance from the temple - it took 15 minutes or less. We had our meals in the hotel restaurant and they were tasty. Muhammad also arranged a ride to Aswan for us at a reasonable price and gave us some small souvenirs.
The only reason I didn't give a rating of 10 for the Tuya Hotel was because of an issue with the bathroom we had. There was a strong smell of sewage which affected our enjoyment of the room. We probably should have requested a different route, but it was just one night so we didn't do that. Other than that, it was great.
To be honest, I didn't have a lot of expectations for this hotel. I thought it was going to be a simple hotel, and I was wrong. The staff was amazing, especially the front desk guy. I think his name was Ahmed. He arranged our ride back to Aswan the next day for a very good price, and he got us the tickets for the light and sound show. The lobby and the restaurant are decorated beautifully, loved this hotel.100% recommend, and it is just a 5 minute walk to the temple.
Everything was great
Really enjoyed our stay at Tuya. Room was clean, food was good and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Mohamed was amazing! He talked with us about Nubian culture and shared his knowledge of the area. We enjoyed talking to him so much. We highly recommend Tuya and Mohamed.
No other hotel closer to Abu Simbel(5 min walk). They never tried to scam me or ask bagsheesh every 10 seconds. The hotel have one rooftop with partial view on lake Nasser, and 2 intimate garden well decorated. Most of the rooms are also interestingly decorated. Breakfast was good. Bedsheet were clean and comfortable.Hot water was good at night. Slightly lukewarm in the morning but that was quite acceptable.
A big big thank you to Omar; can’t say enough on how much you helped us advising and arranging transportation to fit our difficult schedule, getting the Abu simbel tickets and for sharing wonderful stories! You are so cool and great person! To Shaban; for your last minute help when we are very much in need, we will remember you your gentleness and calmness!! And of course to Ahmed; for your awesome food and service, and you impress us every time with your hard work!! We will recommend to anyone!! And of course we will come to your hotel only when we come back to Abu simbel. Thank you for all the amazing memories!!
The hotel is about 10 minutes walking to Abu Simbel temple. Delicious food for breakfast and dinner. Staffs are friendly and polite. Arranged free shuttle to the airport for us in advance.
The location is nearby the Abu simbel temple. All the staffs and the owner were excellent. It made our stay more meaningful. Very comfortable. They offer free bicycle rides for the customers. The food is luscious! Excellent!
We wish we stayed more.
Loved the location - we walked to Abu Simbel Temple from the hotel multiple times! Our room was very nice... the shower was excellent! WIFI worked like a charm! The restaurant of the hotel was quite good! The staff were helpful and friendly... overall we loved everything about our stay!
Great location within 5 minutes walk to the entrance of the temple. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Friendly and accommodating staff. Antique decoration. Excellent breakfast.
Beautiful hotel within walking distance to the Abu Simbel temples. Amazing staff, helped us arrange tickets to the sound and light show and provided good tips to explore the site. Delicious breakfast and dinner, highly recommended!
The hotel host went above and beyond with his honest, warm hospitality, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The dinner was unforgettable, especially the fish tajine, which was without a doubt the best dinner we've ever had on our entire Egypt travel.
The hotel is conveniently located a few meters from the entrance to the archaeological site. Our room was large, bright and soberly furnished. The staff members are very courteous and all speak decent English. However, the most notable aspect of this hotel is undoubtedly its distinctive atmosphere: in an architecture with evidently Nubian features is arranged an interesting collection of furniture items and vintage objects of local and European origin put together with refined elegance by the owner. From the old car parked beside the entrance to the paintings, prints, photographs, knick-knacks, wall clocks, and musical instruments, everything contributes to the Tuya hotel's singular distinction, all the more surprising in such a remote area.
A beautiful room. The staff were really helpful, especially Mohammad, and trustworthy when making arrangements for us. The location was perfect for the temples, an easy 10 minute walk away.
Nothing. As it was the low season the restaurant had fewer options but the food was good.
