- Everything! Beautiful surroundings! Waterfall, beautiful lake, beautiful walking trails, beautiful hotel and places to sit to enjoy all the beauty!
Cons -
- The cake is too sweet
- The tightness of the room. The bathroom had a good size and fixtures. The room… comfort idea from another era.
- The free shuttle to get into town only leaves at certain times of the day. If you book your room on booking, you will not get the complimentary guest card that has free booking on boats and other means of transportation.

A beautiful hotel with lovely furniture and excellent service, but the waterfall-view rooms are a bit small and the beds cannot be separated.
It was spectacular. This was a splurge for us and it was worth it. The waterfall, funicular and ferry were really convenient. The staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful with questions. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and so were the bar snacks.
The hotel in general, the location, views, the classical touch of common areas. The breakfast, absolutely delicious.
The tightness of the room. The bathroom had a good size and fixtures. The room… comfort idea from another era.
The food was very good. The ambiance of the hotel is excellent. The hotel is very nice and like stepping back in time. However, it is very inconvenient to get into town. We took a taxi several times but that is expensive. I would say that this place is more for if you are going to stay at the property and just enjoy walkable hikes.
The free shuttle to get into town only leaves at certain times of the day. If you book your room on booking, you will not get the complimentary guest card that has free booking on boats and other means of transportation.
It was awesome, relaxing. And enjoyable.Waterfall, lakes, forest view was awesome.
No complaints.
What a gorgeous hotel -it’s very old and probably needs to be updated but then the prices would probably even skyrocket more. The views are gorgeous. Very interesting place. Sitting up on the balcony I thought it was more beautiful than Lake Como. A very special place for a celebration. I walked up to the waterfall, which is right on the property and then around the lake where there is a nice little path that takes you to the next little town -just a beautiful walk through the woods, but the lake was right next to you and it’s the color of turquoise
Again, it’s old, but that’s sort of the charm. Maybe I would just modernized the hallways up where the rooms are- there seems to be some old bookcases and books- just felt old when the hotel is so gorgeous!
Easy access to Giessbach waterfall.
The facilities are very old. There are no mini bars in the room.
Location was fabulous
No fridge in the room and some staff made you feel like a inconvenience other staff were fantastic( Venice at check in was lovely )
Location is excellent with lake and waterfalls view.
Staff behavior with guest is horrible…when checking out, we were expecting help from staff with our luggage but we were told that there is no available staff so we had to take all the suitcases ourself to the car and on the way we could see that there was a staff on site with an empty suitcase cart clearly available as he wasn’t helping anyone out since we spotted him twice. Really disappointed with the attitude of the staff towards us when we requested for help and support.
The hotel’s location is exceptional, with a view that looks like a real-life painting—absolutely stunning, overlooking the Giessbach waterfall and right in front of the lake. The hotel has a beautiful, historic design. At first, I faced some issues with the room reservation, but they were quickly resolved, and I was upgraded to a suite. I sincerely thank all the staff without exception. I don’t remember their names, but they were all very responsive and friendly. The restaurant is also excellent, and their dishes are extremely delicious.Thank you all—it’s a place truly worth visiting again and again.
Non
Amazing breakfast experience: salon, music, atmosphere, food. Awesome location in the natural park.
No AC in the rooms. Outdoor pool was "natural" - it's like swimming in a lake, basically. Pool was full of vegetation and not chlorinated, not warmed, filtered in any way. Just like a lake/pond.
The scenery was beautiful and the location was very peaceful. There is also a small train that operates at specific times to take guests from the hotel down to the lake, which added a unique and charming touch to the experience.
(The room was a bit outdated and could use some renovation. Also, the Wi-Fi connection was weak in some areas.)When arriving by car, it is not possible to access the hotel without a barcode. This was not clearly mentioned during the booking process. Guests cannot reach the hotel directly by car, and unfortunately, there was no staff available at the entrance gate to assist or provide guidance, which made the arrival process confusing and stressful.
magnificent old hotel, amazing location, great ambiance, beautiful terrace, incredible views
hot weather, but no air conditioning in the rooms
- Fabulous View of the Waterfall.- Best Staff Ever.- Antique and Classic Style.- Delicious Food at the Restaurant.
- Limited Breakfast options.- Lack of Amenities in the room (Iron, kettle, coffee maker, etc ..).- Uncomfortable mattresses.- Parking lots issue with a long distance to walk with your baggage from your car.

Unbeatable waterfall location, stunning views from our room. Great cuisine, friendly staff - just a lovely stay all around. It seriously does not get any better than this, especially if you love nature and historic grand hotels.
Travelers be warned - when we were there, the earlier ferry is at 10am and the last at 5pm, leaving with limited options for day trips. It's also remote and it's hard to hail Ubers after hours (after 6pm) so plan your days accordingly. It would be wonderful and we would definitely be back if the tram and ferry schedule offered earlier morning or later evening times.
Beautiful hotel! Loved the heated floors in the bathroom. It is exquisite and the grounds are also gorgeous.
Unless you have a car it an be difficult to come and go as you please. They offer a shuttle service, but only runs a few times a day.
