    Pros +

    • Fantastic, very friendly staff. My wife and I had a fantastic experience. Hotel free shuttle can take you to Amalfi village and there either you can spend time around or take the ferry to Positano (very convenient).
    • Stunning location, courteous staff, incredible room and little gifts placed throughout the stay. Plentiful breakfast. Use of the spa was a nice treat.
    • A very beautiful building, carefully renovated, but far from places where tourists are, from the restaurants, so you definitely spend time in the hotel. An authentic abbey where monks once lived, you can find many old elements here, e.g. a confessional. Beautiful swimming pool, amazingly situated on a cliff, good restaurant, spa.

    Cons -

    • The smell of herbs everywhere.
    • The pool is beautiful and in an amazing location, but during the day it is full of seagulls bathing in it, which was both nice and uncomfortable for the people, the birds were large, they are not afraid of people, and of course there is the question of the cleanliness of the water. which I will skip. The selection of breakfast dishes is quite modest, everything was a la carte, not for everyone. The room is quite spacious, but since the interiors are former cells, you can imagine how monks lived here. The spa looks amazing in the photos, but spa inside was quite average in my opinion, they have an outdoor bed, but the outside space itself was also not as stunning as we experiences in some Four Seasons Resorts. It is definitely worth coming here if you are looking for a place that is far from noisy touristic places, an authentic abbey and a nicely located swimming pool, but I don't think we will come back, please forgive us, it wasn't for us, although the views from the room window were really amazing and unforgettable...

Time at the monastero is everything you might expect for a 5 star resort experience with some notable distinctions.Amazing attention to detail and systems of management, result in a sense of tranquility which is hugely amplified by the monastery setting. This really can't be overstated. The peaceful environment they create here is quite precious.Secondly, having a limited number guests (20), means that there is a sense of privacy missing from some resorts or hotels.Thirdly, the views are literally some of the best photos from our trip. Fourthly, the generosity and warmth of the staff in every area is 100% consistent. A great credit to management.Loved our stay.Obviously not an every holiday option, but a special stay that will be remembered for a very long time.

    Leaving.Not staying long enough.

Elegant and luxurious stay. Staff very helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and they did housekeeping twice a day. The property is so green and has comfortable sitouts everywhere. The infinity pool is amazing and so is the thermal spa which was complimentary. They even gave us a farewell gift of tomato sauce and pasta which we loved. This clearly is one of my best stays ever - i have stayed across 5 stars over the world but this experience is the most memorable and i will always remember. Thanks Team Monastero S & R!

    Nothing at all. Perfect.

views, history, pool, gardens, staff and food all fantastic

Had an issue with electrics in our room(lights wouldn't turn off) so we had to have the power shut down completely overnight..which wasn't ideal....as we also lost air con. Had to call them back in the morning to turn the power back on. room on the small size but very pleasant and appreciate they are working within an old building. Restaurant was very quiet..only us and one other table for dinner...

I really loved how attentive the staff were to our every need. The meals we had were absolutely phenomenal at the hotel- and we loved how small it was so the hotel restaurant wasn't too crowded when we went. We really appreciated the intimate nature of the hotel- it really felt like our own private oasis away from the crowded Amalfi Coast. Also, the spa was to die for!

Nothing! We loved everything at the hotel.

Great facilities, amazing view from the pool and the room, great breakfast with varied options.

    Nothing to say.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything is just marvellous, from the rooms, to breakfast, dinner and the attentive staff. Just incredible! We came to celebrate my partners birthday and they exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended and we can't wait to get back.

    10BrianPosted on: 11-12-2022

Incredible views, our lovely room, gorgeous bathroom with underfloor heating, sun terrace next to our room where you can order drinks from the bar, gorgeous non-buffet breakfasts, wonderful restaurant, amazing spa and spa staff and free therme spa, beautiful gardens, peaceful location and peaceful, calming hotel building, gorgeous lighting with candles at night.

Pool staff could be better trained and more attentive. Can't really fault anything else so it should get a 9.9 really. I was going to award 9 but I think on balance I might have to amend to a 10!

I wanted the heated pool to be warmer.

Everything There isn’t probably going to be any hotel and any hotel staff this cordial… they will exceed your expectations in every way… it’s on the costlier side no doubt… but believe me it’s all worth it and the behaviour of all the staff members will make your stay beyond imagination… Thanks to the entire staff members for such a lovely stay

    There isn’t anything really

Amazing property and very elegant room. Initially we were worried as the room on Booking.com looked small and dark. We were wrong. The room was very elegant and bright and cozy! It looks very well maintained and new though it has been opened for more than 10 years. Gym is slightly dusted as it’s outdoor but it’s not hot in the morning in July as shades and fan keep it cool. Property is amazing and the pool view is 12/10! Now I see why it took 12 years to restore this place. What a beautiful and amazing property.

Nothing! Would definitely recommend this romantic hotel for couples and I miss this place the most the whole trip. It makes me very calm.

The staff is AMAZING! The food is AMAZING! The pool & views are AMAZING. We hope to be able to come back for a stay again soon!

We we're not very impressed with Amalfi and how difficult it is to get around! Neither of those things are the hotel's fault. Despite this, everything about the hotel is perfect and we hope to be back again someday!
