There was no AC in our room. No idea about other rooms

Extremely helpful and pleasant staff! We received baggage help getting into the hotel down some steps pass the outdoor dining area to a cozy elevator. The breakfast spread was included with many it tempting and delicious assortments.What amazed us was how personable we were treated. It was raining the morning we were to depart causing us sun risers to oversleep. Unknowingly we should have reserved a taxi to get us to the bus pick up. The Albergo del Sole owner tried to reach an available taxi without success, and from what we understood not speaking Italian, he called in a staff to take his place and told us he would drive us to the bus stop. The other staff helped us wrap and bag breakfast for take away! Whew…they all saved us from missing our conn tons and we enjoyed a delicious Brunch on the train. We sleep better with AC as it was warm and humid and our room and bathroom was smaller than expected.

Breakfast. And the morning staff were terrific. The room was clean and the bed was a king size

The night staff was pretty loud for us on the first floor as they served food and closed the restaurant down. To the point that it was difficult to fall asleep and we had to turn on white noise on our phone to drown it out. A door would help a lot at the top of the stairs with that.

Location; good breakfast; friendly staff

No soundproofing between guest rooms (you could hear intimate bathroom activity and talking). View consisted of air conditioning unit. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable. Bedroom floor was sticky. Room was very small.

What a charming experience. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The town is delightful. I could see the lake from my comfortable room over a restaurant. There is an elevator. Fabulous location. I can't wait to return. I did not want to leave!

Thereis much to like about this hotel. The location is wonderful, partly because the taxis/uber drivers can pull right up to it because it is on a main square. We saw many people trudging up and down the stairs of Varenna with their suitcases because they were stsaying at places where cars cannot go. Also, the staff is very friendly and accomodating (and went out of their way to make sure we got our train to Tirano when the reserved taxi driver didnt show up), and the restaurant is very convenient and the food is great. The rooms are quite nice (with the understanding that this is a very small hotel and it is not is not trying to compete with the five star hotel across the piazza in terms of luxury). We really enjoyed our time here. The rooms have everything you need. There was no street noise. Grocery store and patisseries are a 1 minute walk from hotel. The walk to the ferries is an easy 7-8 minute walk downhill (and the retun walk is also easy - the incline is not sharp). And at night, where it's easy to get lost in Varenna, it is a bonus that "all roads (paths) lead right back to this square and the hotel. I would be happy to stay here again.

Great hotel in a perfect location in Varenna. Not too far from the train station, roads quite busy to get there but we did. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice, asked if we would like eggs which was great! Cosy restaurant at the hotel which had delicious food and drinks, lots of people around.

Just probably a bit cosy trying to get into the reception with suitcases and people bringing meals out, all very tight but was fine.

What a wonderful littleHotel in Varenna. Our room was great (only a double bed but that was fine) overlooking the square. Breakfast was lovely and the pizzeria at night was delicious. Even had a Queen tribute concert in the square one night, heaps of fun ?

Nothing not to like

The location is awesome. And also we were able to leave the luggage for few hours before our check-in and few hours after our check-out.Also the restaurant below was awesome and filling.There is also lift facility till the top floor.

Albergo Del Sole is a cozy hotel with bed and breakfast type vibes. The rooms seemed newly renovated giving it a classic old style Italian feel but with some modern day updates. This hotel is located above a delicious restaurant/pizza shop (recommend eating there during your stay - we did twice!) All the staff here are super friendly and helpful, we felt very safe, and it is in the perfect location to explore Varenna. They also offer a wonderful "continental" style breakfast buffet which included a variety of foods like pastries, fruits, cheeses, different styles of eggs, and you could also order eggs your way (some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had). At this hotel, you are located in the heart of the Piazza San Giorgio with only a short walk down to waterfront of Lake Como. Lots of cute shops, good restaurants, and sites all within walking distance. The train station is nearby if you want to travel to different cities nearby, and then there is the ferry so you can hop on that to go to different towns on Lake Como.

There isn't much to say about what we didn't like. The only thing I can think of is that the beds were a little firm, but with that I have to say I slept best at this hotel during my whole vacation!

It was in a convenient location, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the included breakfast was great!

Having actual keys instead of a key card was a slight annoyance. Everything else was great.

We just loved this place where we landed two nights after we had to vacate a condo we had let because it was as uninhabitable. Alberto del sole went to the top our favorite list in Italy so far. We wish they had had the third night open. The staff was so supportive and sweet to us. Also the food was really good and reasonably priced. Breakfast a 10. Hope we get to Italy again. We’ll definitely be be in Varenna at the Alberto del Sole.

The restaurant was very good. Breakfast is included and a nice spread of fruit and pastries are provided; appreciated the scrambled eggs, which are made to order.

Nothing a shit hole

Everything, first of all I had to check out early. I had a had speakers outside my room blasting all night from a party that they were throwing and I’m paying for a room of almost $400 a night, a complete shit hole a rip off they told me they were going to Refund my money and they never did through Booking .com the air-conditioning didn’t work. There was no manager on duty. the place is a shit hole don’t ever stay in.

Excellent location , easy access to everything including ferries , delis and restaurants

Friendly staff! Family owned/operated. Francisco was amazing! Very clean room/BR, wonderful breakfast. Highly recommend!

Have to enter the restaurant to find hotel desk, little confusing at first!

It was a very nice location, easily reachable from the ferry and train station. Bed was comfy, room was cute, and the bathroom was very clean. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and I really loved the eggs they would make you!

The wifi was very very weak, so I struggled with working from my laptop. And the shower was a little awkward and with no shower curtain, the water went everywhere.

Nice location in a piazza just a short, beautiful walk from the station. Clean, comfortable room with great a/c, which is so important when the temps are this high. Friendly, welcoming staff and great breakfast and restaurant on site for dinner!

Nothing! I would stay here again for sure.
