Hotel Olivedo

Location and the bed was great. First time we had sheets in a week as we were in Switzerland prior.

It's old and could use some upgrades and a little TLC. Bathroom door hit floor when opening. Sitting chair could used replaced. TV tiny and AC could barely keep up.

Easy access to the ferry. Room was larger than average. Nice sitting area in an alcove.

Room windows needs shades to keep out the bright lights from the ferry pier. Elevator was tiny and slow. Not much you can do about this in an older building. Furniture while adequate could use updating.

The staff was so friendly and there was no better location as the ferry is in the same parking lot of the hotel.

Loved the proximity to the ferry, bus stop, and the greenway walk. Although busy, it was so convenient. The breakfast accommodations were yummy and staff was friendly. The building was so cool. We stayed in the attic, which had it's own private bath, which we loved.

It was busy in front of the hotel because of the ferry stop.

Unbeatable location in Varenna, right in front of the ferry. This is an old hotel, but very clean and comfortable. Great staff, adequate breakfast. Would definitely go back if we're ever so lucky to visit Lake Como again!

Hotel is on lake walk out of door just feet to catch ferry. Large room with great view of lake. Amazing breakfast ranges full breakfast to continental breakfast. Cocktail hour in front of building and next door they have a restaurant that has excellent food and price was reasonable make your reservations. Easy to walk along lake and numerous shops and venues to enjoy on the way.

Bed was a little hard

Fabulous location, directly across from ferry. This made getting around to other towns on Lake Coma as breeze. Breakfast was excellent. And front desk was extremely pleasant.

Great location right next to the ferry and less than a 5 minute walk to the bus and train stations. The staff was very helpful with transportation questions and issues - they informed us of the train line closure from Lecco to Varenna when the train provider did not.

The walls are a bit thin between rooms but the noise of the ferry is little to none with the windows closed.

Beautiful lake views from our balcony. Next to ferry stop. Lakeside walk right out the front door. Easy walk to and from the train station. Breakfast was included and very convenient. Checked in by owner who was very nice and eager to help.

Temp control in room didn’t work properly. Ferry stop could be very loud at peak times and smell of diesel fuel with windows open. When windows were closed it was no problem but room got too hot.

The hotel is a gem. Ideally located right by the ferry station with views of the lake. The small cafe downstairs is very good- sandwiches, pizza, etc. and drinks, great for enjoying the weather or people- watching! The staff made me feel so welcome. They hugged me when I left! ? it’s family-owned and run, and those are the hardest working people I’ve ever seen. The rooms are a little rustic (period furniture appropriate in a hotel built in the 1890’s) but comfortable and very clean. My room was an attic room so the lift didn’t go all the way to my floor, but I only had to climb one flight. I enjoyed the hotel and I loved the people.

It was very conveniently located in Varenna. The breakfast was great with fresh pastries and fresh fruit. My room was quite comfortable.

We stayed in the Annex which has modern rooms. The room and bathroom were large and comfortable, and the view of the lake was beautiful, but the best features of the place were 1) the wonderfully helpful and cheerful host Titi (sp.?) and 2) the location right by the ferry dock. When the ferry sounds its horn it can be jolting, but you get used to it, and you can't beat the convenience.Breakfast was very adequate. There is a buffet plus you can order from a breakfast menu.Titi arranged for a private car to MXP airport for us, and packed us a breakfast to go due to early departure.I would definitely stay here again when coming to Varenna. I might consider the rooms in the original building next time for variety. They were all booked this time.

Outstanding classic hotel in perfect location with awesome lake views. Entire hotel/rooms are classic but updated and in excellent condition. Front desk and breakfast staff/service are first class. Breakfast is delicious with a lot of fresh fruit, brads, meats, cheeses, hot/cold drinks, and wonderful menu of included options-omlettes, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc.

We loved everything but note that hotel literally is 100 feet from the ferry terminal, so ferry boats and queues of tourists line up every hour or so from 6am until 10pm. Windows and soundproofing in hotel are very good, so the ferry terminal activity did not bother us and we actually enjoyed watching ferries come/go and we liked the convenient ferry access. Still, some might prefer a more quiet location in Varenna but it is hard to beat the views from this hotel and Varenna has a lot of very steep streets so access would not be as convenient as this hotel.

Location was great for using the ferry. Staff was amazing and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

Being next to the port, it’s very loud. The bed we had was also very uncomfortable.

The staff was great. Especially the hostess, I forgot her name. She was very helpful and friendly. Gave us great advice in where to go to eat and how to travel. She made us feel at home. She was very prepared, knew us by name and made us feel welcome.

This location of this hotel is perfect! Beautiful lake views, comfortable rooms and very friendly and helpful staff!

Awesome building with a fabulous balcony with a view of the lake. Room was updated and shower was great.
