    Pros +

    • The stay was quite lovely - from the location on the mountainside amongst olive trees, to the quality amenities, and the very friendly staff. Could not recommend enough.
    • Beautiful property Set in lovely countrysideExtremely kind and accommodating staff Fantastic lounge area and fire Lots of great sights not too far away if you have a car Great pool
    • Beautiful peaceful location with stunning views. Great evening meal offering for dinner as half board option. Wonderful and reasonable wine collection. Lovely rooms - simply furnished in line with the tone of the property. Lovely hosts

    Cons -

    • Try to get a room with a nice view, not facing the hill/moundFood isn’t the best but there aren’t many other choices in the area
    • Did not like that there was no tap water offering at dinner. €3 per bottle was annoying. I would rather have spent that on food.
    • Nothing - it is the perfect holiday destination

Beautiful finca surrounded by olive trees. Delicious food and such a comfortable bed. I would love to come back for longer!!

The property is absolutely beautiful both inside and out with every aspect carefully curated to transport guests to another era. We felt we could relax the moment we arrived. All meals were delicious, the wine list itself being worthy of mention. We enjoyed sitting by the pool in the sunshine, reading in the courtyard to the sound of the water fountains, snuggling by the fire after dinner on cooler evenings (October) and cycling through the surrounding olive groves. Silvia, Eilko and staff are wonderful - thank you so much for your hospitality.

Nothing - it is the perfect holiday destination

Turning the final corner as you wind your way up the hill on a virtually pristine road you come across the most beautiful vision - the Cortio is a creation of lovingly restored historic buildings which the owners have brought to life to create a sanctuary of peaceful & luxurious repose. The entire place is utterly stunning without being pretentious and it feels tranquil and welcoming from the moment you step through the secret entrance and are greeted by an imposing ancient wooden gateway. The arrival is made all the more special by the hosts warm welcome. We adored the melodic sounds of the fountains in the courtyard where you can while away hours in comfortable repose and enjoy a good selection of refreshments. We particularly liked the separation of seating areas catering well for non-smokers. Our room was spacious, the shutters made it perfectly dark for blissful sleep and the bed was extremely comfortable with high quality linens and it had the most fabulous and spacious shower. I must mention the warm and friendly staff though who made our stay so relaxing and pleasant. There is just the appropriate amount of attention without it being over-done and all the staff were genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. It is no wonder that guests return again and again. We would love to go back in the future.

I struggle to think of anything because it was all so perfect. The fixed evening menu might be the only thing as it didn't necessarily cater to our taste but this is very personal and the staff and owners were so kind in offering an alternative option for the vegetarian dish on discovering that I was not keen on the set option - I felt this act of care went above and beyond and showed the level of importance the owners regard ensuring each guest feels seen, nurtured and made welcome.

Stunning old country house in the middle of a huge olive grove in the hills above Granada is a joy to behold. Full of authentic character and run with wonderful care and attention to guests by the owners Silvia and Eliko. The set dinner was delicious, as was breakfast, and it's incredibly good value too. Our room was an enormous old stable.

Really nothing, saying something negative for the sake of it would feel petty.

The staff were so friendly, they made us feel at home. It is so peaceful and I think we were lucky that it wasn't too full, so it was quiet and we could always find space by the pool. The setting is really wonderful and the food was delicious.

It could be nice to have an option other than a set menu for supper.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The property is beautiful, the location stunning, the owners were very well informed and welcoming. The food was exceptional!

The atmosphere is very relaxing and all very beautiful! The dinner is exceptionally tasty, definitely worth signing up for. We requested even a vegan menu and it was no problem and was the best vegan menu I ever had.

    10FrancescaPosted on: 6-27-2024

Our stay was above our expectations. Silvia and Wilko are very thoughtful hosts that made it all to make us feel at home. We had the chance to get a wonderful room with a breathtaking view. In general, the hotel is very well taken care of and each detail is considered. I could not recommend it more for a relaxing break from Granada.

Beautiful property, truly preserves the essence of an ancient cortijo. The location in rural Andalucía only adds to the charm.

Some of the dishes were hit or miss but other than that, perfect.

    10JuliePosted on: 5-30-2024

Exceptional meals (including breakfast), bucolic peaceful setting, fabulous support for questions about activities, beautiful walks directly from the property, easy access to Grenada, accurate signage to the property, and lovely historic buildings. During our visit in the spring, the poppies in the fields were in full bloom, providing incredible views of the countryside. We would love to return!

Down the road, no pun intended, it would be nice to have a more formal map, maybe with distances, for suggested walks around and through the olive orchard.

Perfect balance of retaining the history of the site with the modern luxuries that make a holiday special. We loved that the hosts ate dinner with their family alongside the guests. A great advertisement for the amazing cuisine we were served.

Small thing but Hôtel slippers would have been lovely for the tile floors :-)

Stunning location to enjoy the beautiful countryside. Easy access onto main roads, for visiting Granada

    10FredericPosted on: 5-11-2024

The Cortijo del Marques is an absolute gem hidden in the Spanish hills surrounded by Olive trees. We stayed at the « Silo ». The room with a « flat screen »: an outstanding view of the landscape without any modern signs of civilisation. A truly unique and mesmerising experience! The whole stay is an actual experience. Dinner at night is a Michelin starred standard for 35€! Wine list: outstanding (in quality and fair priced). We could not recommend more this experience and we will certainly be back!

    Beautiful building. Space. No distraction.

Some staff need to relax and realise that they form part of the overall environment, that people buy into
