    Pros +

    • This hotel exceeded my expectations. They emailed us before our trip and arranged a driver to pick us up from the airport. He even greeted us after we went through security and helped us exchange our money. When we got to the hotel they upgraded our room for free. The breakfast was genuinely the best breakfast buffet I ever had. The time for the buffet was generous, and I did not feel like we had to get up too early like some other hotels. The check in time was also very early and the check out time allowed us to sleep in on our final day. They were very knowledgeable about the old quarter and were able to assist us when we had questions. They also arranged a driver to take us to the airport when it was time to leave. If I were to come back to Hanoi, I would choose this hotel again.
    • We loved the location and walking everywhere. The breakfast was amazing! The staff was amazing and helped quickly with anything needed. Our beds were comfortable.
    • The location was great and the staff was very kind.Breakfast is very good too.And bed was very confortable and clean.

    Cons -

    • The light from the frosted glass bathroom door would keep us up at night when someone needed the restroom. Air conditioning seemed to turn off during the night causing us to over heat and sweat. TV didn't have sound
    • There was a pillar in the bathroom, and the water from the shower left the floor really wet.I thought it was dangerous to come out of the bathtub.
    • Having the climb into a very big bathtub to have a shower. It was slippery and can be quite dangerous. Not accessible for non-able individuals.

The location of the hotel was great and the staff were really helpful. The only thing we did not like about the room was having to shower in the bathtub. This was not stipulated on the website and not very accessible.

    Breakfast was very good

    1. The bill charged by the hotel was more than what I reserved for on booking . Also, they charged extra for using credit card. 2. The room I booked online and the room they gave me when I checked in was different.

Loved the location and the staff. Breakfast was great and nice having a small rooftop pool.

    No bar

The location is exceptional - it is right in a popular area of the Old Quarter. It is just a quick stroll up the street to get to the lake. Lots of restaurants, cafés and shops around. I travelled as a solo female and felt very safe walking in and out at night. I had several grab drivers pick me up from the location without any issue. Staff were very friendly, helpful and kind. Room was clean and super spacious.

Perhaps some more fresh fruit at the breakfast would have been nice. But overall it was very good value and the Pho and Egg station were very nice.

    Location

Bathroom design, leakage from the ceiling in the bathroom.

Good breakfast, I loved the coffee and the omelet. Sweet alternatives are limited. I don't understand why there is no sugar or sweetners on the tables.Good location, within Hanoi old quarter. Beautiful to walk at night by the lake or the night market. Good restaurants nearby.Small but good swimming pool to cool down the hot temperatures of the city.Clean rooms, they change sheets and towels every day.

Payment with credit card has 3% commision on arrival.I had to walk a couple of blocks and exchange foreign money for dongs.

The location of the hotel was fantastic in the old quarter and within easy walking distance of great eating places. Hana organized all of our activities and was always available to help - Hana made Hanoi a joy for us I recommend her to everyone - she was brilliant!

    Very good staff

I have stayed in dozens of Hotels in Hanoi SQ Hotel is one of our favorites, it was closed for a long time to smarten it up ,being a builder I'm not going to say renovateWho in the world on their design team thinks that putting a Bath / Shower Combo would be a good idea .this hotel is probablyt the worst now that it has been renovated Older people or young children would find it difficult to get in and out of this stupid bath/shower comboThey have included a foot stool to make it easier to get into the Bath to have a showerWhen I went to exit the Bath I put my weight on the edge of the bath ,not a good idea ,nearly tipped right over,The Bath is not fixed to the floorWater goes everywhere when using the shower Toilet paper gets wet everytime, there is a pool of water on the floor until the cleaning crew comes The floor Matt is always soaked with waterThis is an easy fix ,pull the Bath out and put a glass screen in ,it doesn't need a doorThis was one of their larger rooms ,the time before we stayed in the family room, same thing1 sheet of glass would solve the water issue and less time it takes to mop up the waterAlso my wife noticed that the floor was not swept PRoperly for 3 days The Hotel is in a top spot and the staff are great

Everything was super nice: the staff, the room, the location and the service. The location was great, too!

The bathtub doesn’t have a shower curtain so water splashed.

    10TylerPosted on: 8-10-2025

Great rooms and daily breakfast was excellent. Felt very comfortable and every need was anticipated.

The shower/tub was a bit high. I felt uncomfortable getting in and out each day.

    10OlafurPosted on: 8-1-2025

Very nice hotel. Newly renovated and super comfy. The room spacious and with a good view. The air condition was not loud and worked well. The breakfast was good.

The only thing I can complain about is that there was a bathtub in my room. but no shower. There was no shower curtain for the bath so the water splashed onto the floor when I used the shower. If you have a bathtub in a hotel room you need to have a shower as well.

The location and suite were fantastic

The breakfast was very average, not what I would expect for a 4 star hotel

    10AgnesPosted on: 7-25-2025

Our stay at SQ Hang Gai Hotel & Spa was exceptional. The check-in experience was comfortable after a long flight, the room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable (it's tough to find a comfortable bed in Vietnam if you prefer softer mattresses). The staff kindly helped us with non-tourist activities as well (finding a barber, getting medicine, making a reservation at a restaurant). 10/10 would recommend and we will gladly return.

The gym does not have any weights, just cardio equipment.

Excellent location , good value and extremely comfortable beds . Excellent breakfast

Only small thing is the shower

    10MelaniePosted on: 7-1-2025

The Santana were very friendly and the rooms were comfortable. Great selection of breakfast items. Fantastic location for exploring. Close to temples, Hoan Kiem Lake, night market, train street and many food and shopping locations.

Friendly staff. Good food. Great location for walking.

Lovely hotel, great location in the old quarter. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The pool area is great for hot days. The staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great, I liked that they offered Vietnamese food! Super good value for money and a great experience all in all.

    Nothing!

Very central to everything. Most attractions were within walking distance.

Window could have been bigger for more natural light. Pool was very small not much sun and not enough chairs.
