    Pros +

    • Location was very convenient. Very friendly and helpful staff.
    • Support with organization and suggestions of Ha Giang Loop. Very flexible, helpful and friendly.
    • This room was good big and with terrace

    Cons -

    • Breakfast was meagre. The actual hotel (with seperate rooms) was different to where the backpacker hostel is.
    • No lift
    • Rats in the walls, you can hear them at night. The bathroom is in the room with only glass separating it from the bed. I ended up staying in the lavender boutique hotel, which is not what I booked. When I checked into City Backpackers Hanoi they transported me there calling it an “upgrade” which is was not because that property is actually cheaper online, additionally they took me there on the back of a motorbike with no helmet “across the street” which was not across the street but several blocks away.

    - Bed was big and comfortable- super cheap price- great location

Structure is old and not well maintained.Quite hard to climb on the beds if you have the one above in the dormitory. Communal area is a bit sad.Only one person of staff (the one on shift in the morning) was showing some sort of kindness and a little smile. The others were cold and not particularly friendly.I guess these things balance the extremely cheap price...

The staff was super helpful. Although they don’t have a 24h front desk, they managed to check me in at 2:00a.m. (after a long tiring travel from Laos I was very grateful for this). They also helped me booking a 3-days Ha Giang Loop and transportation to Ha Long Bay, which was fantastic (very nice and very professional). The hostel has a nice included breakfast and is very well located: walking close to the Beer Street, Train Street, Hoàn Kiêm lake and several other attractions, restaurants and mini markets. Last but not least they had my laundry done for a fair price. I definitely recommend this place.

The bathroom inside the dorm is a bit uncomfortable as everything gets soaked but it’s seems to be something normal everywhere in Vietnam.

The staff was EXCEPTIONAL, each and everyone made our stay magnificent!! Breakfast was delicious and quickly prepared. We booked with Hanoi city backpackers hostel with hopes to visit other travelers at the hostel. The HCB hostel moved us to The Lavender Boutique Hotel with elevator very close by but we didn’t actually stay at the hostel. The staff helped us book our trips to HaGiang loop w/easy rider 3 days, then to SaPa 2 days trekking, back to Hanoi, off to ha long bay cat Ba 1 night and finally on to Nihn Binh….. all transfers complete!!! The HG LOOP was the BEST highlight of our trip !!! THANK YOU Lavender Boutique Hotel for making our stay in Hanoi very memorable !!

That we didn’t stay longer.Okay there may have been a few areas of mold but probably hard to maintain in a humid more wet environment.

The location, activities, and staff were amazing! especially Shelly, who kept the activities going and even organized a special one when I asked ?Highly recommended for anyone looking for a social hostel!

The 4-bed mixed room is a bit small.

They direct us to a boutique hotel near by, because we came with large backpacks and the only room they had was at 6 floor without elevator The hotel was pretty bad only the location was very good

    Not very clean

We stayed here for a very short time to refresh and change clothes before going out and travel to Sapa. It was actually a decent hostel for backpackers unlike us who had a lot of bags because they didn’t have an elevator. We were surprised that there was a pair of shoes left in our room but maybe a from a guest before us. They served us a pair of sliced bread and eggs for breakfast. The staff were helpful and nice. Actually, we booked our Ninh Binh tour from them.

    Room and bed and price

Staffs can be a little bit more helpful and friendly. No roof facility and cloth hanger in room .

We didn't actually stay at the hostel. My wife and I got a private room so they moved us to a hotel. They work with a couple blocks away so all of this rating is for the hotel, not the hostel. But everything is great. They made a little breakfast in the morning and we're very helpful in making sure everything was taken care of for us

Rooms were good temperature and had curtains

    Small rooms

    - staff was kind and helpfull, I especially liked the one guy on the reception that was present all days of my stay, he was smiling, greating us everytime we walk in or out.- bed is spatious and comfortable though the pillows are too high- location is good- breakfast is included- the dormroom is well airconditioned

    - asking us to leave a good review. The point of the reviews is to give future clients an accurate description of what to expect. - one of the staff memebers on the front desk, a guy, that was only there on 2 days of my stay was very unpleasant, seemed angry, gave no instructions about facilities when cheking in. When i asked him if we could put a water bottle in the refrigerator his words were "it says staff, can't you read". Every interaction with him was unpleasant and he was rude and unhelpful.- cleaning already starts at 10-10:30 and is really loud- the bathroom should be cleaned at least 3 times a day. It gets very dirty and stuffy even when the dorm room is half empty- there is a bad smell in the bathroom due to poor ventilation that gets very very bad during the night- turnover is high, with guests staying usually no longer than a day, maybe 2. This means that there is a lot of noise in the morning from packing and making up the beds.- the pillows are of poor quality, too high
