    Pros +

    • Clean, comfortable, good service
    • Fantastic private rooms. I enjoyed using the minikitchenette, as it was stocked with all necessary cooking ingredients. The bathroom was just what I needed after a few days of shared b&bs.
    • Beautiful location, great cabin with the details and amenities of a luxury hotel.

    Cons -

    • The location wasn't optimal for me because it was located in Takaka which involved an hour drive through Takaka Hill... but that's not related to the hotel - more the location.
    • Loved the property. Wish we had planned to stay longer. I would have paid more and still felt it was worth the cost.
    • The TV remote was difficult and may have needed a new battery. We didn’t ask about it so that’s on us

Our stay was amazing! Beat our expectations :) the Owner was very friendly and the attention to detail in the room was awesome - a Bluetooth speaker, outdoor bath and candles, and a glowworm grotto on the property - what more could you want?!

The unit was roomy and included all we needed for simple food preparation. The bed was comfortable, the unit was clean, and the staff member at the office was friendly and helpful.

The chalets had everything we needed and were absolutely spotless. Leanne was very helpful and lovely and accommodated our request to be close to family who had also booked a chalet there. As a group, we were able to use the communal kitchen, which was ideal. The glow worm cave was also a highlight for the kids.

Chalets had everything you could need included and nothing was too much trouble for the host

The best welcome and tour of facilities I have ever had, hands down. I felt very welcome. The chalet was very roomy and comfortable, large bathroom with separate toilet, the shower was so good! Everything I think I would need was provided for in this room and I loved the layout. The room entrance was at the opposite end, away from the carpark - I'm a private person, so really appreciated that. The Glow Worm Grotto was a nice little added feature, and love the little touches to make it a special area. It's only a minute away before driving into the main street of Takaka, so close to shops but far enough to have some peace & quiet.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at The Rocks Chalets. The chalet was spacious, comfortable, and had a lovely outdoor area to relax in. The location is good—quiet yet conveniently close to some great walks. One of the highlights of our stay was seeing a stunning starling murmuration, an unexpected and mesmerising treat. Another memorable moment was visiting the little cave on-site at night. The entrance is lit with charming fairy lights, and inside we some glowworms!

Bed was soft and sunk in the middle.

Very friendly staff. The chalets are all very well appointed for privacy. We stayed at Chalet no. 3 (Kiwi), a lovely outdoor area to seat and bask in the sun. The chalet is very clean and spotless when we arrive.

    10DavidPosted on: 3-9-2025

The property was lovely. The chalets were excellent and beautifully maintained and cleaned. There were private areas to sit and shred areas as well. There was also a cave with glow worms which was very cool. Overall a wonderful experience.

    Nothing, we enjoyed it all.

Very friendly host. Spacious and comfortable room. Each chalet has its own patio and garden table. We did not have problems with mosquitoes, but should there be any, multiple insect repellant devices are provided. Extensive kitchen equipment. Whatever is not provided in the chalet itself is provided in the common kitchen, e.g., oil, soy sauce, bigger pans, pizza oven. Washing machine and drier available in the common area. Good shower.

Double bed: matras is not that good, but I must admit I am quite sensitive.

Absolutely nothing..these beautiful people think of everything.

We appreciated the very friendly and compassionate hosts who gave some extra care after what had been a very tough day. The view of the rocks out the window were cool, the private seating areas were also a lovely touch. We enjoyed taking a look at the glow worm grotto. The Lazer and fairy lights were a hit with our 4 year old. Very clean and we'll appointed room.

These chalets are uniquely set amongst natural rock formations and are very private . Interiors are like being in a well provisioned cosy but spacious cabin . Loved the outdoor bathtub ! Bathrooms spacious too . Communal pizza oven and washing machine facilities

There was nothing not to like just wish we could have stayed longer - definately not your generic hotel room !

A fabulous place to stay. Amazing owners, chalets are large, private and so well equipped, with a gorgeous private courtyard. Highly recommend. I would give it a 12 out of 10!!! Superb location too.

    No negatives.

The comfortable chalets are built into beautiful natural rock formations. It is fun to find the whimsical sculptures and lights as you walk the lovely property. The private glow worm cave is great!
