Location is bad. Ruff side of town. Advertising on booking.com showed cottages but when arrived they were rooms in motel. Very deceiving add. 1st room had maintenance man taking a sh!t in our bathroom upon arrival. 2nd room had exterminator unlock door & walk in on us. Then 5 mins later the house cleaner walked in on us. Cops were in parking lot questioning 2 people in evening. We watched a pimp & 3 possible prostitutes run out of room and leave in a can when cops we’re preoccupied with other issue. Nice place. Spent a lot of $$ on it. Just doesn’t work.

The comfy beds and hot showers.

There was no microwave or iron. The shower was a bit slippery and the fridge size was a bit smaller than expected.

NOTHING it was dark and dingy, in a poorly located area. Parking lot was sketchy and so was the whole area. You gave this a very high rating it was scary.

The room was really dirty. It was bad enough to document it and get cleaning supplies.

This place was so cute, loved the room and the style of the whole place! I needed a nice comfy place to stay not too far from the airport after an international flight and this place was perfect!

The only thing I didn’t like was the location; there is nothing really walkable in the area. However, for my purposes it was absolutely fine.

Really loved the retro vibe. The bed was so comfortable. The Burgundy Lounge had wonderful music.

Everything was great. No complaints.

This place is fantastic. The new owners have done a stellar job giving this vintage motor hotel a new lease on life. What a fun, clean, aesthetic, comfortable place to stay.

Can't think of anything.

The easy, contactless check-in and check-out process was great. The room was very cute and updated. The Burgundy Lounge was a cool and comfortable spot to have a drink before ending the night. The hotel is also located a very short drive away from downtown Charleston - which was great for our convenience during our trip.

The room was a little small, and the bed was not the most comfortable we’ve slept in. The location, while convenient, was not in the best area, and the neighborhood was pretty rough while we were walking around.

It was beautiful! The beds were very comfortable and the amenities were fantastic.

The vibe, the lounges

Location isn’t the best but worked for the concert at Firefly. But would work for any event in the area. Or if you prefer N Chas over downtown.

Super cute, beds were comfy, close to the concert venue.

Staff was super helpful, very clean, very easy to navigate!

The surrounding locations did seem a little sketchy, but on the property there was a security guard that helped us to feel safe!

I am a sucker for a renovated motor inn. The room we were in was REALLY well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. Decor was cute! A+ to the designer. Air conditioning worked incredibly well! I noticed they have security on site which was probably necessary. I don't need a fancy place to stay, typically because I am not in the room alot as we like to get out & explore. This was a nice room to come back to at the end of the day.We did not use the pool but many visitors did and seemed to be having a great time.

The location is really not great. You can see it is trying to have a revitalization but it's 5 miles from a decent place to eat or a gas station that doesn't have bars on the door/windows. I very much hope for this place that the area continues to get better. For the price I paid I can't say I'd be in a hurry to stay here again.

The neighborhood might be a little sketchier than your typical tourist spot, but honestly, I felt completely comfortable and safe the whole time I was there. The motel itself is a peaceful, well-cared-for oasis — a perfect getaway from the world outside its gates. The only other critique would be the need for a hotel representative on site.

Not enough pillows

This place is the perfect location if you plan on seeing a concert at The Refinery and need to stay the night. It's less than a 10 minute drive or a cheap Uber. The bed felt amazing and I really needed some sleep. There is a mini fridge and a hot shower?. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe. There is an ice machine downstairs, free water in the fridge, and coffee.

It's a motel, so there is no soundproofing. If someone is walking past your door, you're going to hear their entire conversation. That's literally the only con I can think of but there isn't much the Starlight can do about that
