Super friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, comfortable and modern room
The staff was very welcoming and professional. I don¿t recall the bartender at the Holliday Inn but was very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome.
the hotel is nice enough although farther from the center than I had thought. It is relatively close to multiple lines of transport. It was quiet. The breakfast was pretty complete.

The proximity to Oktoberfest and to the main train station was excellent(you could walk to both)! The room was ok and off the main road so the noise level was good! The beds were very comfortable and it had a nice balcony.

I booked this hotel but it didn¿t have the amenities I need that were advertised. I stayed at another hotel. But while was there, the staff was friendly and willing to listen to my complaints. Nothing bad to say about the staff.

I loved the larger sized rooms and the A/C Peformance. Have had rooms in Germany that advertise A/C but it doesn't work. The shower was extremely nice, but be aware, it is a large glass box so....
The size and quietness were nice

Top Tips
- Book your Munich hotel at least 3-6 months in advance for major events like Oktoberfest (late September to early October) or Christmas markets (late November to December), as rates can rise over 50% and minimum stays of 2-3 nights may apply. Always check rate and stay rules on your confirmation to avoid surprises.
- Choose your hotel location with your priorities in mind: Altstadt/Marienplatz places you within 300 m of top sights, while Hauptbahnhof gives direct S-Bahn access to the airport in 45 minutes. If you prefer vibrant nightlife, explore Schwabing; for museums and galleries, Maxvorstadt is within walking distance of the Kunstareal district.
- Check cancellation and payment policies before booking, as hotels may pre-authorize your card or request deposits, especially for busy periods. For bookings during major festivals, always confirm the refund window, as many rates are non-refundable or have strict advance cancellation deadlines.
- Carry your valid passport or EU national ID for hotel registration, as German law requires all guests to show and at times allow a copy of ID at check-in. Expect a local city tax (Kurtaxe) of €1-€3 (approx. $1.09-$3.26 USD) per person per night added to your bill.
- Respect quiet hours (Ruhezeit) from 22:00 to 06:00, and often between 13:00 and 15:00 daily. Maintain low noise in rooms and corridors, as violations can result in hotel warnings or extra charges.
- In Munich, tipping is customary: round up your taxi fare, leave 5-10% cash for restaurant staff (about €2-€5 on a €50 meal or approx. $2.17-$5.43 USD), and budget €1-€2 per night (approx. $1.09-$2.17 USD) for hotel housekeeping. Always tip staff directly in cash, as tips are not usually added to your hotel bill.
- Munich’s MVV system connects all major neighborhoods by U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, and bus; the Munich Card or MVV day pass offers unlimited rides for about €14-€18 (approx. $15-$19.60 USD). Check at reception for a map, nearby station (most central hotels are within 500 m of a station), and ticket advice.
- Official check-in usually opens at 14:00-15:00 and check-out is typically 11:00-12:00. Ask your hotel about early check-in, late check-out, or secure luggage storage if arriving early or departing late, as many 4-star hotels offer this at no extra cost if space allows.
- Use your in-room safe for passports, electronics, and extra cash, and secure your luggage with lockable zippers. While Munich’s crime rate is low, pickpocketing can occur at busy sites such as Marienplatz or on U-Bahn trains, so stay alert in crowds.
- If driving, confirm parking availability and costs before arrival, as central Munich hotels typically charge €20-€35 per night (approx. $22-$38 USD) and spaces are limited. For city driving, your rental car needs a green Umweltplakette (low-emission sticker), so verify this with your provider.
- Learn a few German phrases like "Guten Tag" (hello) and "Danke" (thank you), as these are appreciated even though most hotel staff speak English. Direct, polite communication is valued, so ask for help or clarification when needed.
- Request accessibility features (step-free access, elevators, vibration or visual alarms) or extras like baby cots before arrival. Older hotels, especially in the Altstadt, may have limited step-free access, so verify details in advance.
- Check recent guest reviews for details about Wi-Fi speed, noise levels, and elevator access, especially in heritage hotels that may have narrow stairs or small elevators. If accessibility is a concern, confirm the presence of ramps or step-free entry before booking.
- Explore local hospitality by staying in a Gasthaus, pension, or boutique hotel in Haidhausen or Neuhausen. Many offer homemade Bavarian breakfasts featuring Weißwurst, local breads, and fresh fruit; ask if included, as breakfast rates vary from €10-€24 per person (approx. $11-$26 USD).
