Mercure Stratford Upon Avon Shakespeare Hotel

I loved being in a hotel with so much character!

No, it was perfect for me. Thank you!

Good architecture, friendly staff .

No food one night duet power cut.Poor parking

Plenty of staff, always willing to help with anything asked of them. Room was a quirky one on a corner of the building which made the stay even better. Room service also great. Location, 10mins in taxi into the town of Stratford for some great shopping, pubs and restaurants.

We didn't realise there was also a swimming pool and didn't take any swimming costumes! Next time we will and also be able to enjoy the swimming pool.

The location is excellent.Breakfast is very good also with lots of choice. Was able to check in earlier which was a bonus.

The decor could do with updating particularly in the bathroom

The traditional style and sense of history. Friendly bar staff and reception staff.

Sorry to learn that you are closing for a period of time, but look forward to staying with you again when you reopen.

The location

Nobody on reception and no bell. Smelt damp. Carpets frayed in public staircase, cobwebs on lights. Dull room and filthy carpets covered in stains and the shower was stuck on very hot water. I would not stay again extremely over priced

Proximity of everything we wanted to do. The age of the building. Friendly staff in view that the whole place was closing for refurbishment the week after we were there.

Felt a bit tired & the refurbishment will be welcome. Our room however was very good.

Not a lot

For how much we spend on the room which was a lot, the room carpets was warm out none of the tvs worked it was very cold. I have emailed to hotel no one has emailed me back

Location was ok

Information from staffBooked extra night and couldn't use amy facilities due to having no electricity water lighting nothing was due a refund but are now out of business was not happy as could not shower which made us lose our reservation with our table at the restaurant and billed late fee

Our room was on the ground floor around the back where there is a carpark and a really mucky and uneven path. Our net curtains were ripped and it was impossible to open the window or blackout curtains as one felt exposed. When we arrived my brother had left a message for us which was not passed on. When I mentioned the curtain the staff seemed uninterested. This hotel was one of the better hotels in town, now the bar is not really open and there is no atmosphere. Sad.The location and authenticity is great.

Ripped curtains loud from carpark

Great central location and friendly helpful staff

Rooms are starting to look a little worn and needs a refurbishment

Perfect location and extremely historic. It is going to be renovated soon, so I think future amenities might change. I hope to stay here again some day.

Character, clean, location

Nothing dissatisfied

The location was right in the midst of everything which was great because we had an evening at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Our breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and our room was fantastic and was situated along a long creaky uneven hallway, great.

Loved everything.

Great location

The property is very run down our room had holes on walls where pictures were missing. The door fell off the mini fridge and looking out the window we could see that two. Of the rooms had the windows hanging off !!!!

Nice room in an historic building, in central Stratford, very convenient for visits, restaurants and so on.

We were a bit taken back that we had to pay extra for the hotel car park.

Second time staying at The Shakespeare due to it being in the perfect location for visiting the city. The feel and atmosphere of the hotel is enchanting, so much history. Having a car park in a city centre is a definite plus point for us, especially being able to reserve disabled parking.

The reviews we read before our stay were not that good, but we found our 2 day stay very good in all respects. Thank you Mercure

No evening food in the hotel

Last few days before major renovation would be wrong to judge based on short stay closes 1st Nov 23

See above

Location to centre . Staff helpfully room spacious

Smell of damp / dirty carpets in reception and threadbare on stairs
