    Disappointing

When I arrived I was told brakfast was at 8am the next day Came down for breakfast at 8am the morning after my first night - no one was around, breakfast area all locked up. Came back down at 8.15am, still no one then. Then heard that even if it was open, they dont have a chef on a Monday morning. When I complained I got a £10 refund, even though my alternative breakfast over the road was higher than this. Then when I came back to my room that day the maid had been in and soicked up new towels but not made the bed. Next morning, no alternative milks. Breakfast ordered was avacado on toast with a poached egg - it was dry as sticks and presented terribly, so I didnt have it I then avoided brekafast the next day. Followng day the maid made th bed but didn't put the cushions back on - they were left on the floor. It's the little things that will make or break the new owners of this hotel.

The room was large, comfortable and nicely decorated. Our breakfast server was particularly good. The location of the hotel is very central but still quiet.

We arrived after dark so the absence of a light in the wardrobe/fridge area, along with the tired looking carpet in the hall didn’t give the best first impression.

The room was beautiful. I loved being able to have a bath and watch the tv at the same time. The bed was really comfy. Location was excellent.

There were no blinds on the bedroom window. I needed to go to sleep at 6pm to be awake at 1am for work, but I could not make the room very dark. Thicker curtains or blinds would have helped immensely.

On Monday only continental breakfast was available which very poor. Two cereals were available,a bowl of fruit and bread and a very meagre amount of ham and cheese, for the price ,this was not good value. But the full English breakfast which was available on the Tuesday was very nice!

We were under the impression that it had been refurbished and was under new management. The bedrooms are very nice but the Townhouse hasn’t been refurbished since we have been there for the last 7 years plus there’s no atmosphere.

Property was a good location but that was about it unfortunately.

Room was filthy. Took lots of photos and sent to the hotel but they did not even have the decency to respond. Black mould/damp on wall next to bed, smashed ceramic on bathroom floor, filthy carpets, cracked bathroom tiles… I could go on…

Lovely to stay at such an old property with so much character! It was a gorgeous room with a comfortable bed, dark lighting, warm. The bath was beautiful, so relaxing. The location was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast in the morning was very tasty too.

That we couldn’t stay longer! It was a little bit noisy in the morning with people walking around but that is to be expected with such an old and creaky property! It didn’t bother us at it was such a beautiful building.

    the beds were very cosy

Wall paper peeling from wall , looked like aircon was falling off wall. No spoons for tea or coffee just seemed no little extras for shower, nearly empty box of tissues . In the evening noise from area under the window where drinkers were allowed and the Morning barrels been delivered early morning or taken away guys shouting to one an other. It just really felt not a very welcoming place. I had spoken to the lady on reception about the aircon and tea and coffee she sneered when she spoke to me. In the morning i asked a question about breakfast and her sarcasm was quite obvious.Walking up the stairs the carpets were threadbare which i should have realized the hotel really was not up to any high standard.

Lovely little boutique hotel. Welcoming staff. Breakfast was good. Very easy check in. Great locaation and value for money

    8LesleyPosted on: 12-29-2025

It was really central, very cosy, everything was explained to me really well about the room and access. Bed was super comfy!

Zero feminine hygiene products on site. I think hotel rooms or at least the bathrooms in the bar/restaurant should have them and they didn’t which was disappointing and distressing at the time.

Convenient locationGreat staff-very friendly Powerful shower

Poor lighting in bedroom and some switches faultyMattress not supportiveBreakfast included was only a box of cereal and coffee-all other options were chargeable- this wasn't made clear when bookingProperty rather 'tired'

Helpful staff - put the TV to rights when it did not work. Helpful with local information and storing bags before check-in time. -

Early days as yet with the handover of management, but the whole place needs a visual uplift - new carpet on stairs, some redecoration, improved casual furniture. I did not eat dinner in the evening on two occasions, because lack of orders meant the kitchen was closed. Perhaps unsurprising since the menu made it look relatively expensive compared to restaurants in the area. More custom for dinner would make it more warm and alive in the evening.

As it is obviously a very old building it is very quirky. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were lovely. The breakfast was very good.

Very small thing but having cheap loo roll is just not necessary.

    8RogersPosted on: 12-17-2025

Very kind of the staff to let us leave our bags there before and after we checked out, everything was exactly as we'd hoped. Lovely room and bathroom.

Room was very hot and the remote control to the TV didn't really work. I'd have loved an espresso machine

A central hotel very close to theatres. Friendly welcome and lovely staff. Very good freshly cooked breakfast. Very clean large room.

    Stair carpet needs replacing.

    7WelshPosted on: 12-16-2025

The location was great so close to everything.

Would have preferred a cooked breakfast on the Monday we stayed but only continental but not much choice, would have been nice if there had of been some pastries, breakfast was lovely on the second morning as it was full english
