Staff was very polite
Location near speedway
Near the speedway and did not realise they now have an apparently OK evening menu so we will try next time instead of going to beefeater. Everything much neater than before.

The location is excellent, a short walk to the war memorial. The hotel had s parking garage. Most of all, the breakfast was located on top of the penthouse with a beautiful view of the sea and memorial. Excellent breakfast and very good service.

Top Tips
- Book 6-8 weeks ahead for the British Firework Championships in August. Central hotels often sell out early and become non-refundable, with city centre rooms costing at least 20% more; advance booking improves access and secures a better rate.
- Reserve rooms 3-4 weeks before cruise or Brittany Ferries arrivals from May to October. Demand for waterfront and central hotels surges on ship call days, so booking early helps secure central locations and standard rates.
- Consider Royal William Yard or the Barbican for a quieter waterfront stay with direct access to waterfront dining. Both are about 15-25 minutes on foot from Plymouth station, limiting short taxi rides and late-night noise.
- Avoid Union Street hotels on Friday and Saturday if you need quiet overnight. Plymouth’s main nightlife area has amplified music and crowds that often continue until 02:30-03:00.
- When booking a historic or Barbican hotel, request a step-free or ground-floor room. Many properties have narrow corridors and stairs; specify accessible needs in advance for comfort and safety.
- Onsite hotel parking is limited in Plymouth’s city centre. Expect to use municipal long-stay car parks near the station, which cost £10-£18 (approx. $15-£27 USD) per day; reserve a hotel spot or plan for council-run lots if needed.
- Choose a branded economy hotel chain for more consistent and complimentary Wi-Fi, typically 10-30 Mbps and suitable for video calls. Independents vary; confirm speed and charges if a stable connection is essential.
- Plymouth’s tap water is safe to drink. Bring a reusable bottle to save about £2-£3 (approx. $15-$15 USD) per refill versus single-use purchases and to reduce plastic waste.
- Contact your hotel to confirm late check-in if arriving by ferry or cruise after 21:00. Many small B&Bs close reception early and require advance arrangements or an access code for late entry.
