    Pros +

    • Large, comfortable rooms with comfortable beds and pillows. All items needed in room.Easy check-in/ out, and great car park (included).Polite staff and a nice location/ venue.
    • Beautiful building, beautiful room, well equipped, e.g. both bath and a shower to choose from, lovely atmosphere
    • Setting was lovely, breakfast was very nice. Staff were friendly

    Cons -

    • Terrible breakfast. Seriously. I just couldn't eat it, and weirdly, there was lettuce in the middle of the plate... on a breakfast?!. Sausage was gritty and tough. Continental option was just sad. Stale bread, cold pre-cooked croissants and small selection of cereal. Apple juice tasted watered down. Room was very hot, but managed to turn heat off at bottom of radiator. Not immediately obvious how to do so though. Place is a bit rundown, needs attention to cracks in toilet, maybe a lick of paint in places.
    • My room was dirty, bathroom especially toilet had not been cleaned, just tickled. In dire need of updating. Beds uncomfortable. No apologises. Alarm going off due to a smoke machine. Nobody came round to say this was a false alarm. Again nobody apologized for this. I would not stay again. Feel very let down as was looking forward to the stay. For the price I feel I could have had better
    • Unfortunately the lunch time food was disappointing. I'm not sure much of it was fresh and it wasn't well cooked or presented nicely. The burger was flaccid and the soup I suspect may have come from a tin.

The size of the suite was fantastic. We stayed in the Lord Byron suite and it was wonderful and very opulent. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were lovely to have a wander around.

Unfortunately the lunch time food was disappointing. I'm not sure much of it was fresh and it wasn't well cooked or presented nicely. The burger was flaccid and the soup I suspect may have come from a tin.

Friendly efficient staff (thank you Sam

Please mark out the charging bays for EV's. Other parked cars in the area make parking properly a bit awkward.

    Beautiful building, amazingly friendly staff

Room was a bit warm, but otherwise exceptional

    1RachelPosted on: 1-25-2026

Soaking wet bed, to the point of the mattress being soaked through Receptionist barely spoke English!! Said there were no other rooms available when there were only 3 cars in the car park!! So who’s taking all the other rooms?!

    Everything

No real view from the window but that wasn’t a problem as we were out most of the day. The room was very spacious with a very comfortable bed and a large bathroom. There were tea/coffee making facilities, trouser press and TV. Downstairs there is a large bar area with a good selection of drinks.

Can’t say there was anything bad about the property or the location.

Lovely comfortable rooms, polite staff. Plenty of parking

The character of the property, in room facilities such as tea and coffee, fans and plug sockets.

Lack of accessibility. I requested an accessible room but there were still lots of stairs. I travelled and stayed alone so it was very hard for me to manage myself andy luggage up stairs. I'm going to be paying for it for several days, I wish it was clearer the lack of accessibility and help was offered when mobility is bad.

Lovely grand property, very reasonably priced. Spacious rooms.

Room was a bit tired, could do with a makeover.

    7ThompsonPosted on: 1-9-2026

Perfect location for getting out and walking. Lovely bar and breakfast area. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Food (evening meal) a bit pricy compared to quality of food served.Room a bit tired and could do with a refresh and deep clean in some areas of the bathroom

    10AndrewPosted on: 1-9-2026

Excellent service from all the staff, room was very clean and comfortable breakfast was excellent.

    Nothing at all

    6RachelPosted on: 1-4-2026

The location was great, parking was easy. The bathroom was lovely and warm. Breakfast was hot.

The room was tired and cold and the bed was uncomfortable. There was no face cloth or hair conditioner. Just lacked in wow factor.

    7ElainePosted on: 1-1-2026

The room was good and room cleanliness was good.Receptionist very helpful.

Bed rather hard.Downstairs communal areas/ toilets were jaded.Mixed feelings about the food as luke warm. Bread roll had been microwaved so much we couldn't touch it, being so hot. It cooled to a rock solid brick. Main bar, but no barman. He took 15 minutes to arrive.Breakfast was a buffet with side plates only. No full size dinner plates. Bread, sausages, beans all seemed cheap.

The rooms were so nice as was the whole hotel, very friendly nice woman who I think might be the manager and the staff were very nice and polite too, also the grounds are beautiful

It’s perfect and probably should be twice the price it is
