Top Tips
- Reserve rooms at least 6 weeks in advance for Middlebury College Commencement, Reunion, and Parents’ Weekend, as these events often fill downtown hotels. Booking early helps secure preferred room types, especially at brands like Marriott and Hilton within 1 mile of campus.
- Use Addison County Transit (ACTR) for local travel; typical bus waits range from 10-20 minutes, with schedules posted online. ACTR stops are accessible from most branded hotels, but confirm late-night service with the front desk if arriving after 8 PM.
- Book 4-6 weeks ahead for weekend stays during peak Middlebury Snow Bowl season (January to February), as lodging demand increases sharply. Branded hotels may set minimum stay requirements; compare terms across listings before booking.
- Historic inns in Middlebury may lack elevators or step-free access, so request accessible or elevator-served rooms in writing when booking. Confirm availability, as some chains only allocate accessibility features upon check-in.
- Dining hours and on-site restaurant service often reduce after 7:30 PM in late fall through spring, especially Sunday and Monday. Verify meal options with your hotel; branded properties may offer room service or partner with nearby restaurants for late arrivals.
- Confirm parking and EV charging policies with your hotel before arrival. Downtown municipal lots sometimes restrict overnight parking, and long-term street parking is limited. Major chains may offer private lots with posted rules; check parking access in your reservation details.
- Middlebury’s municipal tap water meets Vermont health standards and is available in most rooms. If you need bottled water for medical reasons, request this from your hotel ahead of arrival or confirm in-room dispenser availability.
