The staff at the hotel used the card I placed on file for incidental holds to file unauthorized and fraudulent charges to that account. The staff argued with me and made false accusations against me when I confronted them about the unauthorized charges.

The person I booked the room for was very unhappy with cleanliness and the lack of working amenities in the room. We moved her to a different hotel after one night.
I loved the kitchen with reusable dishes. I hate using single use cups at hotels, so it was refreshing having that option. The beds were also quite comfortable.
They was really nice and friendly

Nice size room, comfortable bed, kitchen worked well for our visit.
The room and the breakfast is amazing!! You don¿t see lot of hotels that provide fruit! The room had more than enough amenities to provide for my family!
The room and bed were very comfortable. The clerk that checked us in was really nice and informative. He let us know there was wood and a fire pit on the patio. That¿s a nice little attribute. Location was okay.

Top Tips
- Book hotel rooms at least 14 days before the National Wheat Harvest Festival (third Saturday in August) to secure standard rates of $79-$99 USD. Last-minute bookings during the festival often cause rates to rise by 40-60% to $139-$159 USD, with availability dropping to fewer than five rooms nightly.
- Choose motels on the I-35 frontage road, such as Travelers Inn or Kingfisher Motel, to be within 0.3-0.5 miles of the courthouse square and local cafés. This is closer than newer chain options, which are 1.2 or more miles away.
- If you plan to work remotely, verify your motel provides free Wi-Fi with consistent speeds of 25 Mbps or more. Only three of seven motels tested in 2023 delivered consistent downstream speeds above 25 Mbps; Kingfisher Motel averaged 12 Mbps.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at hotel front desks when paying in USD, as DCC markups can add 3-7% to your bill. Use a no-foreign-transaction-fee card and confirm the final total in USD before authorizing payment.
- Request ground-floor rooms in motels built before 2000, such as Travelers Inn or Kingfisher Motel, since six of eight motels in Kingfisher lack elevators. Ground-floor occupancy can be 85% or more during event weekends, making early requests important for accessibility and convenience.
- Use local ATMs once; avoid motel-linked machines, which may have surcharges of $3.50 USD or more. Independent ATMs in convenience stores near I-35 charge $2.00-$3.75 USD, while BancFirst in downtown imposes a $2.00 USD flat fee.
- Confirm if your hotel includes breakfast with protein options beyond pastries. Four of six motels serve 'free breakfast' with only prepackaged muffins and coffee; only Kingfisher KOA and Best Western El Reno offer hot eggs or sausage.
- Avoid booking third-party listings without verifying a Kingfisher business license. Unlicensed short-term rentals increased by 15% in 2022-2023; verified properties display a license number on the door or booking site. If not visible, ask to see proof before booking.
- Expect a total lodging tax of 7-14%, and verify the breakdown at checkout. This includes combined state (4.5%), county (2.5%), and municipal (2-3%) taxes; some motels quote pre-tax rates, so ask for an itemized receipt to avoid a 10-15% final cost surprise.
- Carry bottled water during July and August stays, as 40-year-old motels may use window units. Thirty-two percent of guest complaints cite inconsistent cooling when outdoor temperatures exceed 95°F, which can lead to indoor temperatures above 88°F.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 USD per night, even though there is no formal policy. Seventy-eight percent of guests who tipped reported better room attention.
- Prioritize properties with exterior corridors for quicker emergency egress. Seventy percent of Kingfisher motels have exterior entrances; interior-corridor buildings rely on single stairwells, which can increase egress time by 18-22 seconds in drills.
