So clean and modern and smelled great. Workers very nice
Great road hotel. Very clean and nice inside. Staff also very nice. The hotel itself looks like nothing from the outside, is hidden behind another hotel and about two miles from the highway. But we were very happy to have found it.

Top Tips
- Book 3 to 4 weeks ahead to secure rates 12-18% lower and avoid 25% last-minute increases, especially during Wilson’s busy spring event period. Plan ahead for popular weeks to get the best value.
- Consider hotels on the west side of US-117, such as those near Wesleyan Boulevard, where rates average $85-$95 per night—typically 20-25% less than properties east of the highway. These areas also provide easy access to local restaurants and retail for longer stays.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) if offered at the hotel front desk to avoid typical 3-5% markups; always choose to pay in USD. While Wilson hotels usually bill in US dollars and DCC is uncommon, confirm your currency selection at payment.
- Request an upper-floor room at I-95 corridor hotels for 10-15 dB less noise and potentially better safety or views of Wilson’s downtown or green spaces. Ground-level rooms can experience road noise averaging 60-68 dB.
- Verify if your hotel’s 'free breakfast' includes hot items, as only 7 of 11 budget chains in Wilson (such as Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express) typically offer options like waffles or eggs. Confirm breakfast type directly when booking or at check-in, since online listings may be inconsistent.
- Use ATMs inside Wilson Centre Mall, such as the Wells Fargo ATM, to avoid $3-$5 surcharges common at gas stations and convenience stores. Major bank ATMs in the mall also improve security for larger withdrawals.
- Confirm hotel Wi-Fi speed if working remotely; only 40% of midscale hotels reliably offer more than 25 Mbps, but Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express usually provide 30-40 Mbps. For video calls or multiple devices, ask if ethernet cables or upgraded room tiers are available.
- Avoid 30-40% rate spikes during Barton College graduations and Nash UNC Health fairs (mid-April to mid-May). Book at least 60 days ahead or target hotels west of I-95 for better rates and more availability.
- Request step-free access and confirm in writing if the ADA room includes roll-in showers and zero-step entrances, as hotels may misstate features. If you need TTY or visual alarms, ask for advance written confirmation since not all ADA rooms offer them.
- Skip bottled water; Wilson’s municipal supply is EPA-compliant and safe to drink, saving $1.50-$2.50 per person daily. Most midscale hotels also offer filtered water in the lobby if you prefer not to use tap water in the room.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 per night, left daily in a clearly marked envelope, as the standard 15-20% service fee does not usually go to cleaning staff. This follows local hotel tipping customs.
- Check PowerOutage.us for alerts during hurricane season, which is August to October in eastern North Carolina. Wilson averages 1.2 grid outages per year from tropical systems, and only some hotels have backup generators, so travelers using medical or mobility equipment should call ahead about backup power.
