God value for the money. Very friendly and helpful staff.
If the standard room at My Place has a kitchenette, that is probably why the motel doesn't serve breakfast. I am more likely to have a breakfast already made and just warm it up in the microwave than actually cook one in the room.
The cleanliness, ease of wheelchair mobility & friendliness of staff.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 2 to 4 weeks ahead, or at least 3 months before peak summer (June-August) or major local events, to get preferred rooms and rates at Missouri Valley’s limited hotels. For groups or special requests, confirm room availability directly with the property.
- Plan to use a rental car or your personal vehicle, as Missouri Valley public transit and ride-share options are scarce. Hotels typically include free parking; if you’ll have an oversized vehicle, verify parking capacity in advance.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speed and reliability for work, and check for laundry facilities if staying more than 2 nights. Most properties offer complimentary continental breakfast, but menus and hours vary—call to confirm options if you have dietary needs.
- Have a valid government-issued photo ID and credit or debit card for check-in. Some hotels require a deposit hold of $15; if paying cash, ask if a card hold is also required to avoid delays.
- Expect Iowa state sales tax (about 7%) and local lodging or tourism taxes to be added to quoted rates. For transparency, request an itemized total before booking so you know the full nightly cost including all mandatory fees.
- Missouri Valley’s grocery stores and restaurants generally close by 21:00. If you expect to arrive later, check which nearby retailers or 24-hour options are open; some hotels offer limited snacks or vending machines on-site.
- Rooms facing I-29 or close to the railroad tend to be noisier. Request an interior or rear-facing room for a quieter stay, and pack earplugs if you are a sensitive sleeper.
- If traveling with pets, confirm size and breed restrictions plus nightly pet fees before arrival; most hotels allow pets only in designated rooms. For smoking, ask about outdoor designated areas—as nearly all Missouri Valley hotels are entirely non-smoking indoors.
- Missouri Valley weather fluctuates: summer highs average 85°F (29°C) and winter lows frequently fall below 20°F (-7°C). Ensure your hotel offers reliable air conditioning in summer, heated indoor access in winter, and snow-cleared walkways.
- Ask staff for specific routes along the Loess Hills Scenic Byway, current hiking trails, and where to try Midwestern dishes such as pork tenderloin sandwiches at local diners within 2 miles.
- Request unpublished, AAA, AARP, or extended-stay rates directly from the hotel; Missouri Valley’s smaller properties often provide discounts of 5-15% not shown online.
- Check front desk hours at each hotel, as some close by 22:00 or use self-check-in after hours. Confirm late arrival instructions and which on-call contact numbers to use for arrivals after 20:00.
