Friendly staff. At breakfast one morning one of the investors even stopped by to find out how we liked the hotel. Of course we didn't know he was an investor until we had had a friendly conversation and I asked him who he was. I assumed he was manager.
Clean, quiet, and a hot breakfast.

- Most Marshall hotels include complimentary onsite parking, saving the typical $15 per day parking fee found in larger cities. Confirm this amenity during booking, especially if bringing a vehicle.
- Southwest Minnesota Regional Airport (MML) currently has limited public transportation. Verify directly with your hotel regarding shuttle service, and call ahead if your arrival is after 8 pm, as evening shuttle availability may be limited.
- Many Marshall chain hotels offer complimentary breakfast, reducing meal expenses by approximately $15 per person daily. Check meal hours upon check-in if you require an early departure.
- Hotel front desk staff can recommend local family restaurants and highlight upcoming Marshall community events. Request venue addresses or menus to help plan your outings.
- U.S. tipping norms apply: leave $2 to $5 nightly for housekeeping and tip restaurant servers 15-20%. Prepare small bills before arrival for tipping convenience.
- Minnesota weather can shift from 10°C (50°F) to 25°C (77°F) in a single day. Pack easily layered clothing to stay comfortable throughout your stay.
- Select your hotel location by activity. Hotels near Southwest Minnesota State University (under 1 mile) offer convenient campus access, while downtown locations are close to local shops and the Lyon County Historical Museum.
- Confirm amenities based on your group. Business travelers should check for high-speed Wi-Fi (25 Mbps or higher) and in-room desks, while families seeking year-round recreation may prefer hotels with heated indoor pools.
- Marshall hotel bills incur a Minnesota state sales tax of 6.875% plus a local lodging tax of up to 3%. Factor this combined tax rate into your total cost when comparing rates.
- Many hotels in Marshall offer free cancellation if you change plans at least 24 to 48 hours before check-in. Review individual property policy details when booking to avoid unexpected charges.
- For winter stays (December to March), choose hotels with interior corridors and heated parking if available for safer, more comfortable access during frequent cold spells and snow accumulation.
- Ask the front desk about local attractions such as Marshall Aquatic Center (open in summer only) and Camden State Park, located about 10 miles southwest. Request maps or directions for self-guided outdoor exploration.
- Bring valid, government-issued ID (driver’s license or passport) for hotel check-in, as required by Minnesota law. Prepare your ID and credit card for faster registration.
- Marshall hotels frequently offer discounted AAA, AARP/senior, or corporate rates, reducing costs by 5-15%. Ask about eligibility or enter your group details during online booking to apply savings.
