Location and free kids breakfast is great. Off season price is not too bad.
It was close to all the action
Comfortable, if a bit of a tight fit room. Fridge, microwave and keurig were a welcome touch, even though I ended up not using any of them.

Nothing, horrible unprofessional customer service and hitel
Desk attendant was friendly. Location is close to some nice places to eat, and cashier drive to walking trails and shopping facilities.
I booked a downstairs queen bed room and reserved it three weeks in advance. When I arrived they only had two doubble bed upstairs rooms. They eventually found a downstairs doubble. I paid over twenty dollars more for a queen I did NOT get.

I liked hotel employee at the front desk. The bed quality very poor. Worse than any Motel 6 and was charged $230 for 1 night. There was no other redeeming things mentionable. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beautiful rooms, beautiful grounds, modern European feel. beautiful location lakeside, easy walking to downtown to shop and eat.
The view and location were excellent. The bed was very comfortable. I got quick response via text from the front desk for any questions I had.
we expected a spa, hot tub and a swimming pool, as advertised but got none. No restaurant on the hotel premises, no breakfast offered. We asked for our room to be cleaned and it never happened. TV broadcast kept dropping every two minutes.

Horrible experience with this hotel. It's been 2 weeks and still no answer about my refund. We had to leave due to no blankets, no curtains and no door to use the restroom. There were men smoking in front of our window starring at us.

Top Tips
- Book your Big Bear Lake cabin or hotel 30-60 days ahead for typical ski-season weekends, and at least 90 days for Christmas-New Year periods, as rates can surge 30-50% during peak demand. Early booking helps secure preferred locations and may increase your access to rooms with mountain views or onsite amenities.
- Expect Caltrans chain controls on CA-18 or CA-38 in snowy conditions, which can add 15-45 minutes for highway slowdowns and chain stops on weekend snow days. Some hotels offer shuttles or live road condition alerts; check with your hotel for updates or shuttle options that may bypass chain restrictions.
- Many Big Bear cabins and smaller inns have only 1-2 off-street parking spaces with narrow driveways. Confirm the exact parking count and clearance, especially if you drive a larger vehicle, to avoid street-ticketing. Major hotels usually offer free onsite parking; check if EV charging is available if needed.
- If booking a cabin with a fireplace, request proof of chimney or flue cleaning and ask whether a cleaning fee or firewood charge applies, as many hosts add a one-time $15 to $150 fee. Most large hotels feature gas fireplaces or central heating with maintenance included.
- Use Mountain Transit's fixed routes, which connect the Village, ski areas, and lake, to avoid paying $15 to $20 event parking charges in the Village during weekends and holiday events. Some hotels near transit stops offer shuttle passes or schedule updates at the front desk.
- Mobile signal can be weak in some canyon cabins, but most hotels in Big Bear offer stable Wi-Fi. Download offline maps before arrival, and confirm with your property if you need high-speed internet for work or streaming, as speeds and reliability vary. Many hotels provide business center access or around-the-clock tech support.
- Book 45-90 days ahead for summer holiday weekends like Fourth of July, as these periods drive occupancy and increase parking and traffic times. Early booking secures popular features such as pool access or lake views, and joining hotel mailing lists can alert you to early access deals.
- Big Bear enforces seasonal watering rules and drought measures. Verify with your property if exterior water use such as car washing or garden hose activities are permitted during your stay, as fines may apply for violations. Most hotels handle water compliance and often promote in-room water conservation initiatives.
- Many Big Bear rentals allow dogs but charge $15 to $75 per night or a flat refundable deposit. Request a written pet policy covering size, breed limits, and cleaning fees. Major hotels may restrict pets to specific rooms or require a flat non-refundable cleaning fee; always confirm in advance and ask about pet-friendly amenities or outdoor relief access.
- Big Bear uses local utility Bear Valley Electric Service and outages can occur. Request your property's recent outage record or generator policy and a phone contact. Most large hotels have their own backup systems to minimize service interruptions.
